July 31, 2021: I wish I could give this bakery 0 stars. Two weeks ago, I called and spoke with the owner about my daughter’s birthday cake. I was so relieved she was able & willing to make our cake since the lady who normally makes them was out of town. I went to the bakery today to pick up the cake for the party tomorrow. The cake wasn’t exactly what I had in mind with the #2 fondant that was $10 or $15 add on(see pictures below) but the presents were exactly what I wanted so I didn’t even bother mentioning the #2 (I also had to remind the lady checking me out that it was missing.)
Fast forward to the 18 mile ride home. When I unboxed the cake, it was falling apart. See the photos. This was a $91 cake (not including my 20% tip) I’ve never had this type of experience so at first I was hesitant to even call the bakery. I kept thinking well if it’s just one place it won’t matter but it was the entire cake and a $91 cake at that!
I called the bakery and was told the owner is out of town, she’s aware of my problem and will get back to me on MONDAY. The party is SUNDAY! Customer service here is lacking - there was no explanation, no solution, at this point I was willing to purchase a new cake from them so thankful that I did not because as the owner stated per our email “After all products leave the bakery we have no responsibility as to how it’s handled.” In this case, a team member placed the cake in my car, we even made sure it wasn’t going to move however; it was packaged so poorly and the fondant did not make it from highway 73 to business 16, icing was ALL over the box, nothing in place to keep cake secure.
I returned the cake. It’s not about the money but the special day for us. Not one person, owner, assistant manager, staff offered any type of help when the cake was obviously poorly made and packaged but that wasn’t even the worst part of this whole experience- the lack of customer service was by far the worst when a cake I paid $112 was falling apart and the party was less than 24 hours away. No one cared - nothing anyone can do and not their fault. Thankfully, I have a beautiful cake ordered with another bakery and she’s going in early to ensure my daughter has a beautiful 2 tier cake!
