Bad servce Bad food, if you like thai food thai basil is the worst place to be. I order tofu and my tofu was hard as a rock; plus the red curry that I had order was not red nor green, it was a can of old coconut milk with oil on top and the shrimp spring rolls I order the shrimp was missing! NEVER AGAIN WILL I order take out from thai basil Danielson CT... just nasty

Having read some other reviews on another commenting negatively on the slow service, I am happy to note the service seems to have improved. I am unhappy to note, however, that this improvement actually did little to gladden me as it only meant the inferior fare served up at Thai Basil arrived all too quickly. I was interested to see what sort of "foreign" food might be served up in the semi-rural slum of Danielson and, sadly, the food was a good match for the environs. A tiny complimentary salad, boring and full mainly of iceberg lettuce (ugh!) garnished with a dab of strange, too salty dressing started things off.with a wimper. The "appetizer for two" was lousy; mushy-filled crab wontons, paper-thin sliced beef satay skewers, too thick hunks of chicken satay, mystery meat things, etc. As the entree (which arrived before we had finished our appetizers) I ordered pad thai, which is, for me, the standard measure of any Thai restaurant I patronize. It was terrible. The fat, glutenous noodles and unappealing sauce were over salted and, for me, inedible. My lunch companion had a bland chicken curry. I have eaten Thai cuisine all over the country and this place is the absolute worst I've ever had....even blighted, beknighted Danielson deserves better than Thai Basil.
A word about the establishment itself: Thai Basil occupies what had obviously formerly been some kind of rather funky, dive-y (if not downright seedy) bar and, possibly, restaurant. The whole place just looked somehow sordid and certainly in keeping with it's community surroundings. Dress down if, after reading this review, you'd still like to chance a visit.
