Top Reviews of Pour House
11/09/2009 - Derik Lattig
Well, the "Pour House" has moved to new location off of 7th deep in the heart of the Montgomery Plaza entertainment district.
I was anxious to try out the new digs. I was shocked though to find the parking in front of the "Pour House" was valet only, five bucks to park near the door and the valets expect a tip on top of that.
Once inside, I saw the makings of a Dallas-esque-wanna-be sports bar, complete with a huge bar basked in soft blue neon lights. Nearly every wall has a new flat screen TV on it and there is a small stage for bands.
The food looked great, and the menu selections sounded delectable but unfortunately this is where my favorable review ends.
All the glamour and high tech look can not make up for bad management/ownership. My party made up of all 40-year-old business professionals had a run in with a table of 20 somethings. It all started because one of the guys at the other table continued to back into a man at our table. Our friend asked him several times to stop. On the third time this happened our friend again asked him to stop, this time we were met by taunting from one of the females at the table who flipped us the bird.
I went to get the manager, and on the way found the owner and told him the 4-1-1. As we approached he saw a man from our table simply talking to the just turned 21 young woman with the quick draw finger. The owner spoke into his headset, rallied the troops who immediately whisked my friend away. Keep in mind he was doing nothing except talking to the young woman.
As this was happening the group of 21 somethings continued taunting our table telling us goodbye and wildly making more gestures. All this in front of the owner and and staff who did nothing really, but only half heartedly requested they stop. They seemed more concerned talking to us, the "victims" in this case than the group that started it.
I could not figure this out until our waitress told me some of the group apparently WORKED there and some of them were FRIENDS with the owner.
I left and told the owner I was never returning. Long short of it one of the 21-year-olds at the table was later arrested by police as he continued his antics into the night.
So, if you want to enjoy great food, drinks etc, by all means have at it, but beware if you are not part of the "in crowd" you may be subjected to taunting, harassment and unruly behavior.
