My Ethiopian friend introduced me to Habesha, the top Ethiopian restaurant in DC. The dishes were phenomenal, and the experience of picking and enjoying the food with friends was unforgettable. I will definitely return for the great service, chill atmosphere, and delicious Ethiopian cuisine.

went in for the first time on a DC metro food tour of Ethiopian Restaurants. We had the Kinche(which I found I really liked), Sepecial Foul (spicy) with egg in it, and Tibs(but I don't remember which kind we ate).
I think the Tibs and the Kinche were my favorite and I had wished we didn't all have to share! The Foul was good but a bit spicy for my tastes, but it was served with yogurt(more like sour cream in this case) and it soothed my steamy mouth. The whole meal was served with Injera(flat bread) and bread.

3/28/2010 I love this place. It's located in a neighborhood full of Ethiopian restaurants but I feel it stands out because you can stop by anytime for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is the Cheers of Ethiopian spots and seems to be a community hangout creating a warm atmosphere even if you aren't Ethiopian. I usually order the spicy lamb tips which are mouthwatering.. And if you aren't familiar with Ethiopian food this is lamb fried in spicy seasoning and comes with Ethiopian bread and vegetable sides... Delicious. You can pretty much take anyone of any age who is open to new cuisine. The prices are good and one order of $ 12-14 would be enough food for 2.5 meals. They also sell a variety of Ethiopian goods from music to coffee. I enjoy feeling like I've taken a trip another land while not even leaving the neighborhood.
