Alero, located near the metro in Dupont, is a vibrant Mexican restaurant that I frequent with friends. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and accommodates both small and large groups comfortably. The service is efficient, and the staff is friendly and welcoming, making dining at Alero a pleasant experience.

As a Texan growing up with access to incredible "tex-mex" and hispanic food, this is probably the best I've had in the Washington, DC area. The food could use a bit more spice, but is quite authentic, and the portions are sizeable as well. The service is excellent; ask for the beer selection because they may not volunteer their draft list. At around $12 a plate, I'd say this is a great buy for original, tasty food! The only down-side to this place is the atmosphere... The decor is great, but the tables seem smaller than they should be. My friends and I always end up bumping plates and confusing water glasses because the table space is at such a premium. Overall, a good bet if you're in the mood for filling, high-value tex-mex!
