I took my wife, 4 year-old daughter, and infant son there for dinner tonight around 4:45pm. We sat in the restaurant area, it was empty. Our waitress, Bridgett, was super nice and friendly. My wife ordered the chimi. Now, Wikipedia defines a chimichunga as "deep fried", and that is how my wife knows it to be. My wife's order was not. When my wife asked to confirm that she was given the right meal Bridgett explained that Matteos chimi comes with ranchero and it isn't deep fried. My wife said okay and decided to try it. She found it to be lukewarm, at best. Bridgett saw that my wife was really unhappy with the meal and came over and asked if my wife wanted something else. My wife asked for a taco salad. 2 minutes later someone walks up to our table, unannounced, and starts railing my wife in front of me and our children about the chimichunga meal. I tell him to stop talking to my wife that way and he storms away. My wife is now in tears and soon after, my daughter. Bridgett, who herself is flustered and upset over what happened, tries to diffuse the situation. I tell her I am not paying for anything until he comes back and apologizes to me first and then my wife. After a few minutes, no one comes back. We leave, and on the way out we ask one of the other waiters who that man was and he says it was the manager. The hostess, oblivious to it all, tells my wife, who is still in tears holding my crying daughter, to have a good night. Seriously???
If you spend 2 minutes with my wife you would find her to be the most docile, sensitive, caring and unobtrusive mother of two small children, who was just happy to get out for a meal. And she and my daughter were sent away from that establishment in tears because a meal was not to her liking. And we were big fans of the restaurant when it was in downtown Bethany, who used to go there all the time.
