I am not sure what the other reviewer is talking about. It's not the best Mexican I've ever had but some of the best in Ankeny. I like the fish taco and the horchata is good. They have some good breakfast options, generous portions and are open late .

I am referring to the new Abelardo's in Ankeny Iowa. This is the worst food, not worst Mexican food, I mean the worst food I have ever gotten from anywhere I have ever ate. Refried beans tasted like they were from a can and had no flavor. Rice had no flavor. Chicken and steak were overcooked and again had no flavor. The wife ordered fajitas and it was like a burrito with one tortilla. Had a total of 3 shrimp in the fajita's. Cheese sauce was cold. And on top of all that, our total bill for TWO people was over $20. Overpriced and horrid food. I have never written a review of a food place in my life, but this made me so mad, I had to write something.
