OUTSTANDING fish & chips! However, the place is filthy. . . dusty vents, exit sign hanging by cord, floors desperately need mop, tables needs better cleaning, & the cooking area is a disaster. They need to shut down for a day or 2 & do a thorough cleaning. I suggest take-out.
UPDATE:
He was suppose to open @ 1130hrs. I got there @1147hrs & the place was not open. I went down the street to do some other errands & returned @ 1200hrs. He was open, but said the fryer would not be ready for another 15 minutes.
Here is a pic of him lighting off the fryer just before I asked. Zoom in, & you can tell how filthy it is. That grease is not 1 day, but months if not years old. . . disgusting.

The food is below mediocre the service is horrible everyone there is rude do not waste your money or time please go to the pet store and buy fish and make it yourself before you give this idiot any of your money

The fish, chips, hush puppies and coleslaw were absolutely delicious. Wish they'd sign up for delivery service, especially in the winter.

I have enjoyed many excellent meals from this place. The school of fish easily feeds four to six adults. Best value on the menu. When I went recently, the counter help wore gloves and masks and my fish was ready on time. Call ahead to place your order and it will be ready when you get there.

Enjoyed the food. But not enough for the price. Old man was rude and no gloves used. Still had to wait for my order even though I called it in. Place needs some cleaning

Better than ANY (Chip Shop) in England? I don't know wha' 'Yas' (another reviewer) is talkin' about, I highly doubt tha' he's/she's been to EVERY Chip Shop in England...there are thousands of Chip Shops there. Anyway, I'm originally from England, an' this place is awful. First of all, the menu is really odd. There's many items on the menu tha' I've never seen on an' Chip Shop menu before, like cole slaw, hush puppies an' oysters. An' there are dozons of items tha' aren't there, like pies, fried rice an' sausages. Also, the chips they sell are frozen, instead of freshly cut. I'd also like to point out the portion sizes an' prices. Me an' me wife got the specials, I got the '2 pieces of fish with chips, cole slaw & hush puppies', an' she got the '1 piece of fish with chips & cole slaw'. The fish I got was so small I could eat each peice in about three bites each, an' I got about twelve chips, an' two small burnt hush puppies. Me wife got an even smaller fish which I could of eaten wit' about two bites, an' she got about eight chips. I don't like cole slaw, but me wife loves the stuff. As much as she loves cole slaw she wouldn't eat the cole slaw from this place. I could see the cole slaw was dry, an' she said it was flavorless. It's hard to believe the high prices at this place, considerin' how small the portions are... My order was $8.35, an' hers was $5.95. Bottom line, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

amazing! back in 2002, unfortunately you guys missed this restaurant at its prime, because when i was living there 9 years ago, this place was the BEST!!! better than any in england and better than 'a salt and battery' in nyc, and the owner was the behind the counter help...i dont know whats happened but im dissappointed to hear this :(

The food was good, but the counter help was rude. I asked for some lemon when I ordered my carry out and then asked for lemon after paying because there was none in the bag and the guy acted like it was an inconvenience to give me what I ordered in the first place. The food tasted good, but the rude service has stopped me from going back. Judging by the reviews, I am not the only person who has had bad service... maybe they should read this site and wake up before they go out of business.

Well! I have been dying for Long John Silvers and since there is not one close to me, I have been considering London Fish and Chips. Not after reading these reviews! Only one person had anything complimentary to say. I hate, hate, hate to see restaurant employees not washing their hands!! My hugest pet peeve. Thanks but I will travel the extra distance for LJS. Just wish they would come to Macomb County!

Food is pretty good but grossly overpriced. The owners (especially the elder one)are the rudest retailers I have ever dealt with thus the lower rating. The sides (tartar/cocktail sauce, etc.) are small and very expensive. I would recommend another venue if you care about personable service and an enjoyable experience.

I can't believe there is a negative review for this place I've always had good service, and quality food from here... one of my 'Top-10' favorite places to eat.

The service was slow and rude. The orders apparently are cooked one at a time and dine-in customers have to wait for take-away orders to be filled.
The portions were very small for the price. You could hardly find the chips in the basket, and I only received 2 hush-puppies (even though the menu says there are 3 in a portion).
Nothing here is homemade- the cole slaw comes out of a plastic bucket and the tartar sauce is served in plastic packets.
The cook, even while he had customers waiting for food, had to come out from the kitchen 3 times to get money for the cashier, and he NEVER washed his hands after handling the dirty money!
The rest room didn't have any paper towels, and even after asking none were put out. The rest room was filthy and the door was propped open with a chair.
This shop is definitely one to avoid at all cost!

I went in expecting a true British take out and got an overpriced, terrible meal. If you are looking for an authentic chip supper/fish and chips, this is not the place. What a disappointment.

Strictly a carry out restaurant, hot and messy on the inside. The fish and shrimp are terrific. Friendly cashier.
