I have been here twice now. I had the chicken both times, because it was amazing. The service the first time was awesome, the second wasn't as good. The Sangria is also great. I plan on going back often.

This used to be my favorite restaurant in Wyandotte and have watched it progressively go down the tubes.
The worst service imaginable.......I watched as a table next to us get up and leave after getting tired of waiting for a server after a half hour of waiting wishing we would have done the same.
Four of us ordered and four of us got our meals 10 minutes apart from each other.
And the food has gotten to the point of inedible.
I will never go back.

The service was terrible from the time we walked in, until the time we asked for our check. The waitress basically ignored us, and talked to the table next to us, about everything from her pregnancy to everything else in her life. Then the owner came and joined in and continued to carry on the conversation. The service and food were terrible, and it was our first time there, and apparently our last.

Amazing!!

After leaving rather disappointed following our valentine's day issues, we never went back. Cut to 9 months later when we're brave enough to order carry out... Jimmy the owner appears and REMEMBERS US, and thanks us for coming back. I was astonished to be remembered that much longer- that's a sign of good service if they remember when they lost someone that much later. Our food was excellent and prompt and Jimmy offered us a free pizza the next time we visit as a peace offering and thanks for returning. Well, we'll be going back, but I'll PAY for the pizza. That kind of service is what you need more of these days.

What a great Cinco De Mayo gathering that went on at Solero. The atmosphere along with the food and drink were exceptional. Looking forward to trying the rest of the cuisine!

Thanks For The Great Time Everyone!

Also Jimmy the owner is great always going out of his way to make things right for me. I also entertain my business clients there great place for business lunches and dinners keep up the good work Solero's

PLEASE NOTE!!!!! The owners must be writing all of these good reviews. This place does show potential but the owner Jimmy is a jerk and treats his untrained staff like crap. They do not train anyone, You can tell if you have ever been to a decent restaurant. I get far better service at a coney island! I know from a friend that worked there when they opened that had great experience is the restaurant business that there was no waitress training. On the day they opened the wanted everyone to come in a few hours early for an orientation! They don't let their own servers cash out. So they have to find one of the owners to do it and it takes forever. Stupid management and it shows when you go. It is a beautiful restaurant , and nothing against foreign people, but either it is accepted for owners to treat employees bad where they came from or they are just jerks. Overall I feel bad for the workers and for the patrons, because unless you are friends with the owners, you will not be treated like you should.

Solero Cafe is a beautiful restaurant, nice atmosphere. One of the most asthestically pleasing atmospheres in the Downriver Area. The keep it a little too dark though, flip up those dimmers.

This being said,

There was no Host working the door that evening, so we had to wait several minutes before being greeted and sat by a bartenter who finally noticed us.

Hire a host. It is the first impression a customer has on your restaurant. Hire a nice high school girl and pay her minium wage to smile and greet guests as they walk in the door of your restaurant.Better yet,if you don't want to hire someone, maybe the owner could greet and seat guests.

We were seated and again waited several minutes before being greeted by a server who took our drink order. I ordered Sangria, my husband ordered a Blue Moon. The Sangria was mediocre.I was expecting more fresh fruit like strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries to be in the sangria. All I got were some old brown apple chunks and a piece of orange.

The food was a major let down.
Complimentary Tzatiki was the highlight of the meal to be honest with you. For an appetizer we had Calamari. The calamari is frozen processed calamari "fingers". Yuck. I was expecting real fresh stuff, not deep fried "bar food".

My husband had the Steak Fajitas. This meal is nicely presented and 2 people could easily share this huge portion of food which makes it a great value. But the steak was overcooked and a bit like shoe leather. The Solero rice was OK. The Homemade salsa was the best part of this dish, so kudos on your salsa, at least you are doing something right Solero.

I had the Peach Glazed Pollo, which is topped with crumbled blue cheese. Nice contrast in flavor between the sweetness of the peach glaze and the pungency of the blue cheese,no complaints there. However--Again,as with the beef, the chicken was way overcooked, tough and dry.The vegetables served with my meal were a mountain of some horrible foodservice Value Pack frozen mixed veg. I mean how hard is it to steam some nice fresh vegetables for your customers?A salad came with my meal that was pretty good too, nice field greens and romaine mix with their balsamic dressing.

Service was OK.Could have been better considering the restaurant was not very busy.
Upon completion of our meal we were asked if we wanted a box for our leftovers. I said yes. I was dissapointed when I was handed a box and expected to scrape my own plate into a styrofoam container. ATTN: SERVERS-PLEASE TAKE THE EXTRA MOMENT TO SERVE YOUR GUESTS AND BOX THEIR FOOD FOR THEM.This is my biggest annoyance when I am dining out. I am leaving you a tip, please take care of me properly!Additionally.
We were not offered dessert at the conclusion of our meal, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. Most of the time I don't order it but the server should always ask!

Solero has great potential, what a shame the staff is not being trained and directed by management to treat guests properly.

We also whitnessed a manager or owner, whoever he was, drinking with staff and patrons at the bar,how unproffesional.

Good luck Solero,you need it.

We had a wonderful , special valentine's dinner
with our friends at Solero Cafe.
The food was great as usual and the service pleasant as allways.

Solero cafe has good food. We've been there before and we decided it might make a nice place for a Valentine's Day dinner. We went later, close to 8:30pm to avoid any rush. We were seated, given our beverages, and forgotten. My wife's orange pop was half full, served with no straw. My beer was poured so poorly half the glass was head. Thre free bread and tzadziki they give to everyone else was forgotten with us. My beer ran out and my wife's half full pop was long gone and we'd had no sign of the server.

On top of this Saturday night is apparently untalented guitarist / singer night, with a soulless white guy belting our equally soulless covers of country and bob seger songs. When he tried to switch it up and began butchering "COmfortably Numb" I was at my wits end.

My wife went to find the manager and the server arrived with my food. After presumably being yelled at by her boss, the server returned and blamed our missing bread on some other server who she'd asked to check on us. Presumably while she went and... did her job somewhere?

Just as we're about to let this all blow over the ignorant staff seats a table of 8 people next to us, and places a table of 5 screaming 7-year olds directly behind my wife, without asking us if we would like to move or anything at all. The screaming started immediately and the ignorant parents didn't care any more than the staff did when we demanded our bill. A feeble apology was offered at the end of the night, and I got a blank stare when I mentioned they'd ruined my wwife and I's valentines day. We're Michigan workers and residents, we don't always have enough money to go out to dinner all the time.

And yes, this is the end of my valentine's day. Both of us upset and sulking, with a ruined evening thanks to SOLERO.

What an interesting menu. There was something for each of the eight of us. All delicious. Sangrias are wonderful! Too full for dessert-maybe next time. (There is a Strohs ice cream parlor on the corner with Sanders hot fudge cream puffs for a progressive meal then back to Solero's for coffee and apertifs)
