Every summer, the familiar aroma of crispy fries and creamy shakes draws me back to Family Treat, where the double-decker burgers are stacked with all the fixings and the foot-long chili dogs evoke a nostalgic journey to my childhood in Southwest Detroit. The ice cream here is a revelation-thick, rich, and bursting with real fruit flavors in every shake, while the chocolate-dipped cones and banana splits overflow with classic indulgence. Though the space is small and carries a hint of fried-food scent, the friendly, fast service and the retro diner vibe make every visit feel like a warm, timeless celebration of community and simple, satisfying flavors.

I always anticipate the arrival of Family Treat as a sign that summer is truly here. Today, I indulged in their #1 meal - a delicious double decker burger with all the fixings, a generous serving of fries, and a refreshing soda to wash it down. The meal left me completely satisfied, but there's always room for a small vanilla ice cream dipped in cherry to round out the experience. Family Treat holds a special place in my heart, evoking memories of childhood and community, and I can't wait to return for more of their traditional, mouthwatering offerings.
