Cellar 849 (Pizza e Vino) is the kind of restaurant that you can go on any night and have a great pizza, a great glass of wine or beer in a very cool, yet modestly sophisticated environment. The presence of the wood-burning oven in the middle of the restaurant adds to the ambience and overall experience. They have a friendly, knowledgeable staff who goal is to ensure you have a positive experience. The pizzas are about as authentic as you can get without going to Italy. The ingredients are fresh (San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh herbs, garlic, balsamic vinegar, prosciutto, etc., etc., etc.) No hidden filler ingredients here. They just added beer to the menu, which is a nice touch to those who are not wine drinkers. Their new wine list includes Michigan, California, Argentina, and Italian wines--something for everyone. The prices are reasonable, and you save about $7 or $8 on all take-out wines--an incredible deal if you want to take some home. So, if you're looking for an awesome place to eat and have a few drinks without the raucous bar environment, then eat here, you won't be disappointed.
