For the past 7 years, I frequented Cook County Saloon every Friday and Saturday under the guise of finding a wife, and to my surprise, I did, meeting a woman from my hometown there and marrying her, making my mom eat her words; my first experience in a real country bar was at Cook County Saloon, where the lively atmosphere, free coat check, bucking bronco, and themed General Store made for a hilarious and amazing night, with decently priced drinks, friendly bar staff (especially Bobby, who kept serving me Burt Reynolds cocktails), and the unexpected joy of dancing to Spice Girls' Wannabe with cowboy hats on, learning the two-step from regulars, and admiring the skilled dancers on stage, making it a great place for line dancing or two-stepping before midnight, and while the bar can get packed, arriving before 10pm is advised for quicker entry, with the staff generally friendly despite occasional under-poured shots, and the bar being a hit with friends from out of town due to its diverse age range and welcoming atmosphere, making it my favorite bar in all of Edmonton, and a must-visit for any country music fan looking for a fantastic time.
