Terribly horrible experience yesterday, 7/19/20, with the takeout food that my husband and I ordered from Indian Harvest. It was his birthday weekend and we decided to celebrate by ordering take out from this "new" Indian restaurant near our house. I use quotation marks because this restaurant used to be Tanjore and we have visited them in person AND ordered take out from them and the food was really tasty. We are local residents of Boca Raton and have tried every single Indian restaurant in this city and we never had such a bad experience. When we received our $140 worth of food yesterday, my husband and I were flabbergasted, appalled and very disappointed with the way it was prepared. The Baingan Bharta was prepared like someone learning to cook Indian food in the beginning stages. Trust me, I know because I was there at one point in my life. It was watery, the spices weren't right, the texture was totally off and the eggplant was not prepared the right way. It felt like it was cut up into pieces and boiled in the sauce (NOT the way it should be prepared). The rice in the Biryani was not well cooked and the rice that was served on the side as an accompaniment was not cooked either. Let's just say almost all of the items we ordered were completely unappetizing, save for a few items.
We ended up calling the restaurant and speaking to the owner/manager, Ramesh Patel, and when he asked for my husband’s name and realized that it was an Indian name he had the gall to say that “Oh, you are an Indian so that is why you didn’t like it, because the regular customers do not like spice so we have to prepare it with less spice.” Who says that?! I was appalled, hearing this on speaker phone. Ramesh Patel told us to go to the restaurant in person so he can doctor up the meals and give us a better taste. Wow! We avoided having to go out of the house due to the current health crisis and here he is telling us to get out of our home, drive to his restaurant and BRING THE FOOD so he can fix it. He never once offered to refund our money, which was a lot –$140 –and he never offered a complimentary meal. When I got on the phone to speak my mind, he immediately asked who is talking to him and what my name is. Does that really make a difference when you have an unhappy customer talking to you about the quality of food and not wanting to engage in any small talk?
In the end, we reported our situation to Delivery Dudes and they did not help one bit. They directed us to speak to the owner and only then can we have a refund. Well, we did that beforehand and it didn’t work. No one was there to champion us, to have our backs – not Indian Harvest nor Delivery Dudes. So in the end, my husband’s birthday dinner was a disaster and we had to throw all the food away. Thanks a lot, Indian Harvest. We will never eat at your restaurant ever again. One and Done!
Customer, be ware. You have been warned.
