I ate here once years ago during highschool and distinctly remembered their beautiful bento boxes (wooden Japanese lunch box plates). 3 years later I come in again since my non-Asian friends go here every weekend. Even with attentive service, I was overall very disappointed.
1. Their sushi is not fresh. It also fell apart when picked up. It's more expensive than Amimoto in Punta Gorda (which has FRESH/properly prepared sushi). I basically paid more for a lower quality sushi roll.
2. My whole tempura meal was not crispy. I couldn't even bite off my tempura asparagus (meaning the veggie wasn't fresh).
3. If you know Japanese food then you should know that high quality rice enriched with a bit of saki is a key component. Their rice was the type you buy at Wal-Mart and had no saki mixed in.
4. Their prices/drinks are more expensive than other and better quality Japanese restaurants.
.
5.They no longer serve their food in beautiful bento boxes. I received my food on a plain white plate.
If you are looking to enjoy real Japanese cuisine AND save money, go else where.
If you do not care about the way they are skimping on quality and are just looking for a place to enjoy with friends, this is the right place. The place is big enough to accommodate large parties. It also has enough seats to be a bit loud and ruckus without getting stares.
On a positive note, their service was very attentive. I have nothing to complain of that.
