Don’t even bother. Was just there tonight and it was terrible. Who takes the tails off their shrimp when not in a salad. Ordered a combo and Pam the waitress told me I had to have both done the same way. My husband had ribs and no meat on the bone. We won’t be back and will not recommend.

This place is filthy inside and out. Beat up, old and dated. Menus were sticky and dirty. Smells like a dirty nursing home when you walk inside. If I hadnt met a group of friends, I would have left. Food matched the environment. Disgusting.

Food has no flavor

Captain Eddies use to be one of my favorite neighborhood eateries. I don't even go there anymore, I prefer Nokomis Crab House right down the street. Captain Eddie's stopped being Captain Eddie's after Eddie sold out to Jane. The food got tasteless and the prices went up. Nokomis Crab House isn't cheap but the value is in the taste of the food. Worth it.

The food is microwaved or fried, doesn't taste fresh. I had fish and scallops, both were rubbery and drenched in butter. I love fresh seafood and as a Marylander I have been eating seafood my whole life. This was just disappointing and way too costly. Don't waste your money

The worst meal ever!! We should have known when all the other restaurants were crowed and this one was not. Our friends were from out of town and had never had Stone Crab, so with our suggestion they both order it. At over $40 per person you would expect a great dinner. When the food came we were busy eating our food, not noticing the trouble they were having getting the meat out of the shell. I tried to crack the claw and most of the meat stuck to the shell. We called the manager (George) over and he said the waitress should have told us not to order it because it wasn't good. That they had gotten it from Tallahassee not Venice (as the place mat stated). Well, he gave us a refund for one partial dinner, but not the other one. We were astonished. He would not budge and give us the total amount back, but offered them one piece of pie. Needless to say we will never go back to Capt. Eddie’s again.
On our way out we took a brochure on Stone Crab. Here is a direct quote from the brochure they have at the front of the restaurant, “Stone crab claws are sold fully cooked, fresh or frozen. Claws are cooked immediately after harvest to prevent the meat from sticking to the shell.” Also, another chef told us that if they are heated too much before serving they will stick to the shell.

Just ate there tonight (1/11/14). Portions were very adequate and the Rock Shrimp and Scallops were some of the best ever. Service was excellent. Prices were within reason for what you'd expect to pay for a meal that good. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends!

I ate today at this restaurant and ordered the grouper cheeks. I received about 6 cheeks and a small bowl of cole slaw for $8.83. Three of the cheeks had what the waiter said was cartilage, but it was like a bone to me. Consequently I had 3 small pieces of fish a small bowl of cole slaw for $9.00. I mentioned this to the waiter and he was not concerned, never offered a substitue etc. This to me is unacceptable. I did not make an issue as you were crowded and I was with other people. Thank you.
