Wife and I recently went to Dave’s to celebrate her birthday. She chose oysters’ rockafeller, her favorite oyster meal. I selected a plate of fried oysters (my usual). Service was good, her oysters were excellent (she said “best ever”), buy my meal was awful. I received 11 to start with, four of which were of average size. We call that size poboy sized. Four were about half the size of my thumb and the remaining three were no bigger than my thumbnail. I asked the server about the size and she stated that the oysters were all that size for the fried plate, as larger oysters were for steaming. I refused the plate and ordered fried shrimp. I had to pay a $3.00 fee to change my order, so I paid for oysters and got shrimp. Believe me, I know oysters. I tonged them for years at the largest reef in US (Square handkerchief shoal, Pass Christian, Ms). I have ordered fried oysters in hundreds of restaurants, but the experience at your establishment was the worst ever. I am sure the taste would have been great, but your attitude and presentation were extremely poor at best. Needless to say, unless I receive an apology we will never set foot in your place again. I will be telling friends, visitors and strangers (tourists) about my experience. I even saved the receipt to show the extra $3 fee. So far, I have been told that they won’t be going to Dave’s.
I might be willing to give Dave’s a second try and stop the negative advertising, if you can prove that that particular experience was out of the norm.

My husband and I went for lunch today. We ordered blackened grouper sandwiches. My husband found 5 bones in his sandwich. I honestly was scared to eat mine! We took everything out of the sandwich so that we didn't swallow anymore bones. We liked the fries and onion rings. Our waitress was nice, but still was left with our drinks empty twice. They gave us 10% off. Lol. We won't waste our time and we still recommend Peg Leg Petes!!!

You must add fish & Chips to your menu simular to side lines fish fry that would be right up my alley.

This is the best place for oysters on the Gulf Coast. I don't eat oysters from anywhere else because Dave's has me spoiled. Also, everything on their menu is the best you can find anywhere. If the service is slow, it's only because it's a small place with only 2 people running it, and because they take the time to cook the food fresh to order. You cannot get better food anywhere!!! It's a fact!

Went there yesterday survice was awful They told people if they didn't like to wait they could leave. 9 people left. The oysters are great.

What a great place!! We stop in each year when visiting from Maryland. The oysters are outstanding as is the buffalo shrimp. BEER is always cold and the staff second to none! Highly recommend Dave's to everyone!!!

The biggest problem is finding them open. Every time we go during their "business hours" they are closed. Definitely call first!!

I love Dav es Oyster Bar! Its awesome with FRESH COLD OYSTERS shucked right in front of you. And the service is GREAT! Very friendly. It is sad for ones that know the place is small and has 3 servers.. still want to stay there and rant and rave about not get tin fast service. I think it is one of the best places you could eat sea food!

The oysters were great. The beer was cold. That's the good news. The restaurant was drafty and the service was unbelievably awful. We tried for 15 minutes to get a server's attention to ask for a beer and were told we'd have to wait. It's a hole in the wall to begin with. There were two servers and fewer than 15 patrons. When we asked for our check when we couldn't get a beer we were told "if you don't like the service, don't come back". We won't. It doesn't matter how good the food is, if you can't get it, why bother going out to eat?

Dave's oyster bar is were the Champion oyster - eater go DAVE'S is the best from Gulf Shores to Panama City it is worth the drive... from all across the coast.

Just a cool local Oyster Bar, but with the freshest Oysters! The night I was there, Dave was shuckin' the oysters to order right in front of you..... Got the hat, had Dave sign it, and brought it home to Tampa. Can't wait to get back there on business again....
