06/17/2013 - Gross
I've been here about 5 times in 8 yrs and nothing changes. The salsa is horrible and the food leaves a bad aftertaste. If you want an overpriced taco that is decent this is your place, otherwise go to Taco Bell

I'm from AZ and my husband is from NM so we know good Mexican food. This was not it. The salsa was ok - but it got all it's "heat" from garlic - the garlic was over-powering. The salsa needed a LOT LESS garlic, and some more cilantro and jalapenos. I had the Sylia Special - Essentially a Mexican Pizza. The ground beef was bland and tasted like it only had salt and pepper for seasoning. The refried beans were decent, but nothing to write home about. The guacamole that came with it tasted like it was straight from the grocery store freezer section - definitely not fresh tasting. My husband had a combo that included a taco, burrito, and enchilada. Even though he was famished when we got to the restaurant, he didn't even eat half his dinner because it just wasn't any good. Once again, it was bland and tasteless. The service at El Charro was decent, but nothing special. If you like bland food, El Charro is the place for you. Otherwise, save your money and skip it.
