07/25/2009 - Fly n salad dressing
Terrible service. I found a dead fly coated with dressing in my caesar salad. It was in the middle underneath the lettuce. Yet, the staff insisted it had flown there since we were seated outside. There was a steady breeze and no flies present. The chef forced me to pay for the entire meal for three even though we canceled our orders and had only been served drinks and this one salad. This is the worse service I have ever had in a restaurant. The chef even called me petty as if I was supposed to go on eating and ignore this.
04/30/2009 - Norm's Tasting Notes
About five years ago my wife and I were in Matlacha, Florida preparing to have dinner at our favorite
Italian Seafood Resturant in south Florida, Moretti's, where the seafood and pasta dishes are to die
for! As we perused the wine list, I did not see many wines that I was familiar with, until I spotted the
Danzante Pinot Grigio. I had heard a few years earlier, that the Robert Mondavi Family from Napa
California, had a few years earlier, started a wine making venture in Italy, and this was one of their
products. We tried it with our meal, and it has been a household favorite ever since! I believe that
vintage was the 2004.
Today we are drinking the 2007 Danzante Pinot Grigio and enjoying it as much as ever. This is a
great food wine and also a wonderful "back porch sipper"! The wine comes from the Northeastern
portion of Italy above Venice. The word Danzante means to dance, and what a delightful dance it
is, with this clean and crisp Italian Pinot Grigio! It has a nose bursting with aromas of citrus and flowers.
The flavors of citrus, spice and pineapple carry well into the crisp lingering finish! This wine can stand
up to the garlic in Shrimp Scampi, and still compliment the lightest cheeses out on the back porch with a few grapes.
