This without a doubt used to be the best BBQ place around.............. thats why me and my wife many times have driven over two hours to eat there. We have been in love with the place ever since the owner took a stand against Sonnys for his Christian Faith. Spring forward to yesterday and that has definitely all changed. Yesterday 4-3-15 I and my wife made the 2+ hour ride from Griffin to Tifton. We arrived at The Smokehouse at 3:15 pm and we were the only ones there. We ordered our regular all you can eat ribs which the waitress said was $8.99 same as always. She then came back and advised us it was $12.99 a piece which we said no problem too as the quality of the food has always been top notch. As soon as the food arrived both of us thought that ownership must have changed. Cold baked beans was one side and the recipe has definitely changed, they were like someone opened a can of pork and beans and put them in a bowl. Then the ribs.... over cooked on the outside and all fat hardly any meat and what was there was dry, and no smoke flavor as if they were cooked in a oven. We thought well maybe the next plate will be okay so I placed a order for two more plates of ribs. We got 4 of the same lack of quality ribs on 1 plate. I asked for the second plate and the waitress went away and came back with I'm not sure what it was. I told the waitress that that had to be a joke and she said well the ribs are the last of what we have ready and she even said that plate of 2 ribs was ridiculous and looked horrible. She went back to get "better Ribs" and came back to tell us "sorry but we are out of ribs". She offered some pork if we wanted that but it wasn't pork we drove 2 hours to get. I asked the waitress well since we cannot get all you can eat ribs I hope that you're going to take off some from our bill. The waitress said she would go ask and came back with a new bill where $2 was removed. This was definitely the last straw. I asked the waitress if the business was under the same owner and she said yes. I'm not sure what has changed but this place is now what I would consider a dump and not worth trying. We should have know something was wrong with a empty parking lot and not another customer in the place. Too bad it has sunk to such a low, we will never eat there again and will go to the Sonnys only 30 minutes away!!!
