Went in for lunch with 4 coworkers and had what I would consider the usual no fanfare service that one expects at a in-out restaurant with a $12-15 lunch menu. Unfortunately didn't look at the price of the lunch special and gingerly ordered the shrimp Alfredo. It was tasty. Not great but a nice serving (about the size portion of a lean cuisine) with a generous portion of standard iceberg lettuce salad complete with bagged croutons, 2 slices of cucumber and 2 half slices of almost red tomatoes. I got a glass of ice tea laced with peach and mango simple syrup. Then ordered the bread pudding. Nice flavor and about 3/4 of a cup with a cream sauce. The bill came to 29.50 with the 18% gratuity conveniently added in.
I love the wonderful ambiance of a gourmet luncheon and am willing to pay for that...but people.. this fell way short! It was equal to the paper napkins that graced the table and could have been worth a check of $16 but even that would have left me feeling cheated for this poor imitation of a mid-day dining delight....and for a $30 ticket that is what I would expect. For a $4.50 lunch tip, which I am also willing to pay, I expect my server to regale me with the delights of the dish I am contemplating purchase, suggest and cajole me in my decisions, provide quick service and in the unfortunate event that delays are unavoidable should be right there to tell me WHY as my tea is freshened (without the additional $0.25 surcharge they state on the menu).A server worth his/her merit should earn the tip with a concerted interest in how my meal (and cost) has made me feel on my way out the door. Anyone really feeling good about spending $30 for that quality meal at mid day has dined poorly for sure.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement.....Too bad Martha.
