COVID Procedure and Health Concerns
We ordered a gift box from Dom’s for the holidays, but the employee gave us the wrong order. Several hours later, an employee called and explained the orders were mixed up and asked to return the food items. Due to the fact that it was the middle of a busy work day and we wouldn’t have time to drive an hour out of our way 2 days before Christmas, we offered to throw away the current order (and send them pictures) and receive the correct one via mail or work something else out.
The employee refused and insisted we return the order, which made it clear that they intended to still give these items to the original customer. This was our concern from the beginning, given the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic and had already touched the food and unwrapped some items, and to be honest, we did not trust that the same thing had not happened to our original order. To make things worse, the owner got on the phone and then blamed us for the mistake, claiming we purposefully took the wrong order, even though we clearly stated the name our order was under multiple times at pick-up and the employee who handed us the bag confirmed our name (which by the way is different enough from the other customer’s name to know the difference).
We’d like to say this is a one-off incident of poor customer service, but friends of ours have confirmed there are multiple complaints against the owner. It’s really a shame, given that we were trying to do the right thing from a health perspective during a pandemic while still supporting a small business, but given the fact that they tried to blame us when we offered a reasonable solution, I can definitely say this will be our first and last experience here.
