review_stars 09/24/2010 - Abysmal place that looks deceptively classy
Bad service, tons of attitude, decent food & incredibly slow kitchen. It is only worth going here if the day is real nice & you can get a seat outside. If you can't, you are better off elsewhere.

DO NOT GO!!!‎‎
By Jenna - Jul 13, 2010
If I could give this place 0 stars I would! Owner is a woman on a serious power trip. Waited in line for almost 2 hours to get to the roof top- the only reason we decided to go to this bar- until the owner for NO reason kicked us out. Not only did I wait in line talking with only my group, but was very respectful of the others around us. Out of the blue the witch started swearing at me and kicked our entire group out for "running my mouth all night". In reality I had just got to the front of the line, and mentioned to my friend that there were people cutting all night. The owner assumed we were talking about her and trying to cause trouble when she was the one eavesdropping and running a terrible establishment. Called me a slew of entirely inappropriate names, even after I attempted to apologize for the misunderstanding. ALL IN ALL... NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE! I can't stress how rude they are here!!!‎

I used to love City Bistro, but after going here Saturday night for my birthday, I will never go again. First, dinner was merely ok. The menu has completely changed and is much more casual than it used to be. While my steak sandwich was good, it was no better than I could have gotten in most other restaurants in Hoboken. Second, the bouncers working the door need a revamp. Friends of mine were not let in because someone was wearing a baseball cap. Inexplicably, others were wearing caps on the roof and managed to get in, probably because they were bigger than the bouncer. Additionally, the staff kept people waiting in line to get to the roof, despite the fact that it was half empty. Apparently, they are trying to make the place look like the place isn't slower despite the locals going to the shore. Should have just left to go to another bar. Will not go back though.

Food is suprisingly good. Brunch is a great value. All yuor can drink while you dine! The rough deck is a huge draw in the summer, but it's a good spot all year round. Service can be sketchy though.

Roof top deck is great for warm weather drinks before or after dinner.
