A townie bar that's clean, affordable, and serves great pizza really captures the classic American vibe. Rockdale is full of these old-school, well-maintained watering holes that I find myself visiting more often than other areas. The regulars here are fiercely protective of their bars, which creates a welcoming atmosphere by keeping the riff-raff away.
