As a pay back for favors done, a decision was made to go to We Hop restaurant in down town Angola on Friday evening for fish dinners. A sign at the entry way "Please wait to be seated". About twelve people standing in line, no hostess in sight, finally appeared after a few minutes. Some of the people standing in line, disgusted with poor service at this establishment, walked out.We waited about twenty minutes for a table, tables same painted black, dark area,no place mats on the table, could not tell if the table was clean or not. If the waitress had a name, it was not mentioned or known to any one in our group. She never smiled, was courteous but not friendly. She took our orders, the salads came in about ten minutes and the fish plates about twenty minutes. What is this? The fish was thin strips, looked like bacon or smoked herring, dry, overcooked? All was sent back to the kitchen.About twenty minutes later, fresh plates arrived, my friend's plates were the same type as first ordered, freshly cooked, edible this time. However mine was different, a thicker, larger kind, why was I served a different fish ? The worst was yet to come, the fish brought to me the second time was not edible, too much salt and spice, one bite burned my mouth and throat.Really bad, don't touch the rest, leave it! To be courteous we decided to just leave,I asked the server for the check, there was no one at the cash register. she offered to take the fare, a first here. No recommendations and no plans to return. My apologies to my guests for the bad food at this establishment .

After the Miss Northeast Pageant we needed to eat before traveling home late in the evening, This establishment was not busy, lots of empty tables. We rejected the option the hostess gave us for seating because there was food all around on the floor ,I made a poor choice to sit on the bench along the wall, those seats are made for people with ten foot legs, no back support. I have never had a good experience in this restaurant for breakfast, burned roast, yucky cooked eggs, expensive compared to other restaurants in Angola. I had hoped that an evening appearance would be better. Of course no one can see out of the windows because they are covered with an advertisement gimmick, this late it was dark outside anyway.During the day, no one can not see in or out, dark and dingy, every thing painted black, lit up like a Christmas tree at night. We ordered our food which arrived in about thirty minutes, waitress cordial, but not friendly. Two ordered toasted cheese sandwiches, which they did not like, two ordered fish sandwiches which were very good. We all agreed that the chips that came with our sandwiches were not edible, thick and burned. If you want quiet time while eating, that does not happen here, daytime noisy, night time much worse. a band playing, there should be doors to close out the band noise (and I do mean noise not music ) from the dining area. A group of people came in , sat down a few minutes, rejected the noise and walked out.
I certainly would not recommend this establishment for food, service, ambience and cost.
