08/22/2009 - GladstoneMO
We go to Tommy's about once a month and are usually surprised by the variation in food portion sizing. Sometimes it is a very large plate of food and other times it seems more like a lunch portion. We continue to go because service is usually pretty good, the food is usually pretty good, and we get discounted coupons at Restaurant dot com.
Normally, the drinking water tastes bad but it is tolerable. This does also affect the tast of the soda (i.e. coke) but again, that is usually tolerable as the sugar masks the bad taste.
Tonight was different though. The drinking water was truly disgusting. Even worse was that my wife ordered the Steak and Shrimp ($18) and the shrimp and steamed veggies were clearly cooked in the disgusting water. My wife couldn't eat either of these and I ate the shrimp because I hated to see it get wasted. That was a mistake. I have had disgusting after-taste of those shrimp all night.
We live here in the Gladstone area and have both a water filter and a water softener that we picked up from Sears (also in Gladstone). I would imagine that Tommy's could get the same setup for $1,000 - $1,500 installed and that really could make a huge difference for them. Hopefully they take a look at these reviews periodically and get a clue.
