Definitely check your bill. I was not able to since I was in a hurry but looking back, waitress overcharged me for what I ordered. Posting this so others will not have the same experience.

Bad experience! The MOST important I can advise… make sure you check your bill closely!!

In my opinion, even 1 star is too much for this place (unless we give stars based on the number of cushions they have; although customers seem to be attached to them). It really puzzles me what is so fascinating about their tasteless decor?
It is a Mirage indeed, though, - a reversed one.
The best food of my life happened in Egypt - needless to say, it did not have anything in common with Mirage's food-resembling stuff. All the kabob varieties were dry and burnt (I guess, my herd was alive when King Tut ruled Egypt). I had to work hard to find a piece of meat in the pile of "Kingsford charcoals".
The potato salad tasted like a play dough.
Naive me, I thought after a disappointment like this their coffee would cheer me up. Well, with the same success I could have gone to the nearest mud puddle and scooped up some water. And my friend's "juice" was least 50% was tap water (at best).
You might be invited to their kitchen before the meal (probably they feel extremely proud about their cooking?). Or maybe they secretly take pictures of their customers with a dropped jaw?
After visiting Mirage even McDonald's looked appealing!!!
And PLEASE, visit a bathroom somewhere else before you have fun in Mirage.

Mirage is so much fun! The belly dancers work really hard to make it a fun experience. Most of them are really good dancers. I really like the chicken kebabs, and the pita is fantastic with hummus. Hookahs are fun, too! It's a vacation without going anywhere.

I love going here on the weekends and watching the belly dancers! There's so much energy at night there, and it's a complete experience with food, hookahs, a full bar, great service and entertainment!

Everyone should check out the Mirage of Gay Street for an enjoyable, unique experience. It's located on the block between the Tennessee Theatre and the Bijou Theatre, with ample parking directly in front. The hours are 5pm-12am Sun-Wed, and open until 1am on Thurs & 3am on Fri-Sat. All of the decor is authentic from Egypt and really sets the atmosphere for the place. There is even a section in the front where you can sit on cushions and eat on low tea tables. If you've never had middle eastern cuisine, you should. There is something for everyone to try, from appetizers of Hummus and Feta dip to Veal Scallop and Shish Kebab entrees, all of which come with your choice of a salad. Appetizers are $5, 2 for $8 or 3 for $11, and entrees range from $14 to $25 for the Sultan Meal with a little bit of everything. There are 20 flavors of shisha (flavored tobacco) to choose from, and for $10 you can smoke a hookah for 1-2 hours depending on how many people. Even if you don't normally smoke tobacco, smoking shisha from a hookah provides a very smooth flavor to enjoy alone or accompany your meals. Local belly dancers perform on Friday and Saturday at around 10 pm, dancing throughout the entire restaurant. All in all, Mirage is a great place to enjoy a peaceful meal on weekdays and drinking late on the weekends. Go check it out!
