The absolutely best Pizza Place in
Suffolk County. Product is always
exceptionally made with the freshest
ingredients and a delight for the
palate. Staff members are nice and
knowledgeable. The owner Sal is a real
gem, whenever I go there I see he goes
the extra mile for his customers and
really cares about them. Sal makes you
feel like family... his family! Great
food, great service, great people
behind the counter and in the
kitchen.an owner who cares, this is
the recipe for a prosperous business.
No other pizza place has made it at
this location…Except for Sal's of
SMITHTOWN.and there is good
reason why.

I’m sorry to post this but I’m disgusted and very disappointed in the owner of Sal’s pizza on Terry Rd.

I’ll start by saying I have years of customer service experience in many different fields so I’m very understanding with the back end of things.

I had a horrible experience with delivery from this place on Thursday night. Was told 40-45 mins for delivery, I called after an hour and 10 mins to check status and was told delivery guy just left with the order - 30 mins later he shows up. Forgets half the order in the car (luckily because I was able to open the pies up while he was still there) to see the boxes were clearly dropped or something, pieces were all on top of each other, cheese and toppings off of pieces, I’ll share the pics. And everything was cold. Not even warm. I told the delivery guy to take everything back and I was calling to cancel this order, no one is eating that. He takes the boxes and kept his tip..
I call the place back and tell them about this, I got a very nice young woman on the phone. I tell her what happened, tell her I can send pics I took before I sent the food back with the delivery guy and I want a refund including the tip the guy kept. She puts me on hold for a min or so and comes back on the line saying they can cancel my charge and send me a new order rushed no charge. I appreciated that and thought that was very accommodating after everything but I asked how long it would take because I had two 4.5 yr olds that were now borderline hangry at this point. She said 20-25 mins. Okay great. Thanked her again and asked if she’s sure she doesn’t need these pictures. She said no and they’ve been having issues with this delivery guy.
ONE HOUR later I call to check in about this order. A guy answers the phone and immediately sounds annoyed and defensive says no we aren’t sending you free food. I was told you canceled the order. We can’t just send you free food.
Ok so now I’m pissed- I’ve waited hours at this point so (I know with a frustrated attitude) I said I was told this is what you were doing. And he’s flipping out he can’t do that he’s not doing that, as I’m trying to explain to him what I was told. Well he then says I ‘should have spoken to a manager the girl I spoke to is nobody, she’s nobody’ and we aren’t getting free food. His driver isn’t back yet, etc. He hangs up.
I’m sorry, what?! First of all that’s your employee that I’m sure is busting her butt for YOU and you’re going to turn around and talk about her like that to a customer?!! I hope that young woman sees this and realizes she is so much better than that and does not deserve to be treated like that.
I figure out something else for my kids to eat and then I call back to get this persons name, apologize for sounding frustrated and try talking to someone in charge reasonably. He answers again I ask if it was him I talked to he says yes and immediately I apologize for being frustrated but this is what’s going on, he says he’s the owner and I’m trying to explain to him what’s happened- bc maybe he doesn’t know the whole story, or whatever but he doesn’t even care, he can’t even take a minute to listen to this ridiculous story of HIS employees. Can’t even politely say hey I’m really sorry I’m being slammed here right now can I take your number and call you back about this a little later. He was rude, condescending, defensive- like he had known I had been told they were sending a new order and then just didn’t, did not show any support for any of his staff and didn’t care that he had an upset customer.
Before anyone says oh you just wanted free food - I never asked for free food. I only asked for a refund on the food I sent back with the delivery guy. I was going to get something else for dinner but the woman on the phone said they would do that. So there I was waiting for this food that was never coming and this owner I’m sure knew before I called and could not care less.
