Wow, read some of these reviews, maybe some of these sourpusses should stay home, as it is obvious they have no life. Been there many times, the food is great, we take home the lefovers and have another full meal! The bar is consistant, with good slightly strong drinks,"I'll be back"!

review_stars 11/11/2011 - carol kaufman
Loved the food, waiter was great and attentive but drinks are watered down. I ordered 2 Patron Silver on the rocks and didn't even leave with a buzz and that was ($9) a pop. I will bring my own next time!

We were there today, knowing it would be busy, being cinco de mayo. We waited 25 min to get drink/water, another 20 min for appetizer and another 40 min for entree. While we were there many people walked out as they were just fed up with no service. Ordered 2nd margarita. It was so strong, put water to filter it a bit. That didn't work, so it was sent back. Owner/Mgr walked drink back to us not to apologize for the long wait and that basically we were there almost 3 hours but to complain that there was water in drink and he wouldn't take off bill. Waitress felt so bad, she offered to pay for it and insisted we didn't leave tip because it was so wrong. Owner is a d--ch- bag, willing to inconvenience customers and instead of apologizing and offering to cover something refused to take off one drink!!!!!!!! Arrogant horrible man, worse businessman!!!!! Never again, enjoy your $ 5.75!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the ambience is so so and the service blah especially the corny musicians, the food is GREAT...

review_stars 11/25/2010 - Paolo Sant'Ambrogio
Really bad that they can not handle a party of 15. It took one hour to get served and the food was cold and bland. Superexpensive $ 30 per person on a $ 17 plate. Bad.

Been there many times and it is a great place to eat. I have even took friends and they all love the place. never had any problems great service everytime

I agree the food is great!!! However there service is horrible. And It's too bad that management & owner don't care. Eventually the horrible service will catch up to the restaurant.

Best restaurant in town, worth the long wait

review_stars 05/05/2010 - cathy
food is good...service is horrible. Manager seems not to care what customers have to say.

review_stars 04/06/2010 - Vicky
Love it here! The table-side guacamole is wonderful. Their margaritas are delicious. Great atmosphere and good quality food. I have been here on several occasions and every time I go I leave very happy!

review_stars 03/28/2010 - Joan Guzman
Be very careful going to this restaurant the waiters are very rude and the manager is not interested in keeping the customer happy! They claim that each customer only has 2 hours to eat and you must leave! Their food is not very good and the staff are not to bright! Go to another restaurant where you will be treated correctly! Don't waste your time eating here!

AWSOME PLACE!!! Great authentic mexican food at a great price.

review_stars 02/19/2010 - Rick Rose
Without question the best Mexican restaurant around, a little bit of a wait but that was to be expected, the atmosphere, service, and the food couldn't have been better.
Everyone with us felt the same way, see you Saturday.

THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN SFV !!!!!

review_stars 01/07/2010 - Stephen Magill
This place is extremely popular and I now know what it is like to be a lemming. Yuck! The food is tasteless, bland, and spiceless. This is Mexican? The Margaritas are ordinary. Only the amount of noise makes the place at all unique.
I know the folks in Tarzana have a lot of good restaurants to visit and support, but this ain't one of them

Amazing!!!!!! Best Mex Restaurant in town...

review_stars 12/21/2009 - Sahar Shamoun
In response to Wendy Padilla's comment "by the way this lady sahar shamoun is totally wrong! about sol y luna she probably was having a bad day and decided to take it on other people." - let me set the record straight! First of all, I was not having a bad day; in fact, I was having a great day ready to celebrate a birthday with friends until I experienced the rude and obnoxious service from their staff! Furthermore, you don't know me to make this comment. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm a happy person who does not lash out at people even if I am having a bad day. So your comment is so unfounded and very lame, to say the least. You could've made your point without making stupid assumptions like I was having a "bad day and decided to take it out on other people". Everyone has their own experience, good or bad, and mine was unmistakably horrible and you have no right to tell me that I'm "totally wrong" for having this experience!!

wonderful staff and food. reasonable prices for the service and food.

I have been eating there since the first week they opened and I have never had a bad experience. As with any restaurant (or any service industry for that matter) the better you treat the staff the better they treat you. Valet always has my car waiting for me by the time I get to the parking lot.

Susanna - She's a doll and always greets me with a hug and a smile.

Jose - Makes the best Mojito in the valley and he is very outgoing and friendly.

I have taken many people there (friends, family and business associates). All my friends and family from out of the area always ask to go there when they visit and I have closed many business deals over fresh guacamole and margaritas.

I highly recommend taking the time to enjoy this wonderful place. Be prepared to wait for a table on Friday and Saturday nights. Just elbow your way to the bar, order a drink and wait for a table, it's an experience that well worth the wait.

Remember: Treat the staff kindly and tip well!

I hope to see you there, I will be the guy at the bar drinking a fresh Mojito, feel free to come say hello.

This was the worst dining experience I ever had!!! It's mind-boggling how an establishment can survive with this atrocious type of service. They absolutely have no clue what customer service is and evidently do NOT value their customers!!!

Moses (the manager on duty that evening) was extremely RUDE, ARROGANT, and CONDESCENDING! Our party of six were treated so poorly that we decided to end this awful experience and just walked out! We vowed NEVER to return and will boycott all of their establishments! Then when I contacted the owner (Alejandro Morales) the following day to inform him of the incident, he was just as RUDE and ARROGANT!!! He became defensive and when he started making comments like “ALL my customers love Moses” and “I don’t appreciate you telling me how to run my business” I realized that he simply was not interested in what I had to say and demonstrated that he does not care about his customers. I just cannot fathom anyone treating their customers like dirt and getting away with it!
I urge everyone to take a stand by not supporting any of his restaurants (Sol Y Luna, Las Fuentes, and Melodies)!

the best server it's susana. she make me feel realy good

review_stars 11/10/2007 - Donna W.
Fantastic food and amposhere. Owner also owns Las Fuentes and Melody's (both near Vanowen and Reseda), those are also great. Sol y Luna is fun and festive. Only complaint is the wait. One of the best mexican restaurants in the Valley.

We all love this place!!! We love the happy hr specials too!!! Great place for good friends to meet!!!

review_stars 08/20/2007 - pampleposa
So enchanted with the vines inside climbing up to the ceilings and the musicians singing passionately as you are served by waitresses in classical Mexican attire. The service was speedy and very accommodating to our vegetarian requirements. The staff were knowledgable about what they serve and they serve the BEST Margaritas...the crushed kind. YUM! Also an appropriate place to bring the kids. Very festive and celebratory as we were entranced with their birthday celebration songs and sombrero at the table across the way!

Sol y Luna was recommended to my husband, so we had dinner there this past Saturday, July 29th.. We loved it so much we have plans to bring our best friends this week.... My husband thought it was better then the original El Cholo Resturant (all the way in L.A). Now we don't have to travel so far!!!!!!

excellent place! try the beef flautos..........you cant go wrong!

review_stars 02/01/2007 - Chris W
Some friends and I just visited Sol y Luna for the first time. Great atmosphere, great food, friendly staff...

My only complaint: the guacamole guy had a tip jar on his cart. Everyone at our table thought that was rather tacky.

review_stars 01/17/2007 - Brian J.
I'm going tomorrow night for my first time but I feel comfortable enough giving this resturant all 10's considering it's the same owners as Las Fuentes. I've been going to Las Fuentes (Reseda & Vanowen) for 13+ years and I have never had something to complain about. They keep the tradition alive with the family running the show.

Great food, especially the tableside guacomole... superb atmosphere. A welcome addition to the neighborhood restarants.

Great food, service, value, and atmosphere!

review_stars 11/25/2006 - Angie & Steen
Works well for a casual and light lunch & dinner. Fun bar atmosphere. We highly recommend the chips, but don't try the salsa without something to wash it down like a margarita. We also like the chicken consome soup.

review_stars 08/25/2006 - Miss Beautiful Tulip
Great margaritas, cheap during happy hour (3-6) live music, great food. I recommend the chicken taquitos and the carne asada burrito. My new favorite restaurant.

review_stars 08/12/2006 - MenuPix User
I'm really love this restaurant.

review_stars 07/25/2006 - Jackie
Very fun and lively atmosphere. Great food and drinks! Be prepared for a long wait as they do not take reservations but it is worth the wait. A lot of fun for birthdays as they take a photo of the birthday person decked out in a sombero and give you a copy to keep.
