My wife and I have been eating at the Bistro for years and have enjoyed every meal there. The host is so welcoming, caring an attentive, he makes every visit special. When ever I need to meet someone special or have a lunch get together with friends,I can always count on a lovely dining experience with wonderful food and great service.

I want to share the worst dining experience I've had since Lincoln was in office. We had been to the Bistro some time back and decided to stop again at dinner time on a mid week spur of the moment visit. The restaurant had only one other table of diners so getting a table was the least of our problems. Getting water or bread was a different story and required multiple requests. Silly me, I thought it might be easy to exchange one pasta dish with a sauce of a different selection. Wrong. I was pushed into a soupy pasta dish that I voiced I didn't want. I sent it back and decided just to wait until my partner was finished, pay and then leave. The owner came over to "help" and attacked me for not voicing what I wanted although I clearly had done so. He agreed to spoon one of the many sauces already made on the pasta of my choice. But when I requested the sauce to be on the side of the pasta to add as I wanted, that was not allowed. To be honest, I've been around the world from dives to roof top dining and never have I had a worse experience in ordering, food quality, service and value of the food. If your aim is to have an enjoyable dining experience, I'd drive to this Bistro, park and then walk to absolutely any other restaurant since this place is exactly what no one wants to experience...and pay for.

I just had to write a review about the best valentine's dinner I've ever had!! We went to"bistro of santa monica" for valentines day. It was such a special night, my fiancee decided to suprise me! I'm a physican and never have time to make the plans myself:) Well, the night was so special and perfect. I was welcomed with a long-stemmed red rose and a soothing jazz band playing. We were quickly seated, with amazing hospitality, felt as if it was home. We ordered the "surf and turf"- lobster tail and filet mignon. Perfectly cooked, quickly served (even though it was valentines day); an appetizer I had to rave about was the caprese salad- buffalo mozorrella with fresh basil, dried oregano drizzled with olive oil- it reminded me of my last trip to napeles, Italy.. it was as if we had left LA and flown out to italy for dinner. Amazing food, service, atmosphere and we want to go back every month to enjoy a little taste of italy.
