This Sunday was the first time I ever ate at Russells and it was well worth the wait. Everything was great even the service for as busy as it was. Yes I would eat there again.

My wife and I have eaten at Russell's quite a few times over the years. No more, and it's not because of the food. We're seniors, and have often stopped there for breakfast on our way to a movie. Recently, we did exactly this; as we walked into the restaurant, I glanced at the sign overhead that claimed it had been open since 1930. In the Los Angeles area, it's rare to find a restaurant that's been open twenty years, much less 80-plus. This pleased me. When we entered, there was no one seated in the area to the left of the door and plenty elsewhere, so we assumed they weren't serving in that area. Soon the maitre-d' or headwaiter or whatever approached us with a burst of words that concluded with "booth, but we'll have it cleared soon. I responded "...both?..." because I almost always ask for a table, as I have arthritis in my left hip and getting into and out of most restaurant booths can be a bit painful. By now, the host was speaking to another couple who had entered after we did--and immediately offered them seats in what I had assumed was the verboten area to the left. My wife said that we could sit there too, but the host said no, I had asked for a booth. I was surprised because I definitely HADN'T asked for a booth, just said "booth?" with a questioning tone. He immediately claimed I had TOO asked for a booth. Annoyed, I replied that no, I-- and he cut me off angrily. He immediately began swearing at me with liberal use of the "F word" and ordered us out of the restaurant. It worked. We won't be going back.
