11/06/2020 - remove the hold on my credit card
√if i could leave 0 stars it would be more honest. DO NOT LET THEM HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD UNTIL THE BILL IS CORRECTLY MADE OUT AND PRESENTED TO YOU. a week ago i had dinner with a friend at Shutters. at the end of the meal we told the wait girl that we want to split the bill on 2 credit cards. we have done this before.. she tells us there is no problem.
she brings back a bill for each of us. my friend has a bill for $85 and change and i get a bill for $171.99. we explained that we were each to pay half- not one to pay half and the pother to pay the complete bill. oh, no problem (lies lies lies lies) she takes the incorrect bill and brings me the corrected one but has not voided or refunded the original $171.99 charge. she explained that the bill is not charged- it is just a hold on the amount on the card and this is normal and should be off my account in a few days. on Monday i check my account and have been charged the amount of my bill (plus the tip i added) but the $171.99 has not been removed. i call but accounting is not there late in the day so i call on Tuesday morning. after a few tries i speak with SANDRA- very nice, very reassuring but totally useless because the charge is still listed on my account. i call today (Friday) and leave messages twice and no-one returns the call. i don't know about you but $171.99 is a lot of money to pay on top of what i have already paid for dinner.
NO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL. THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER NICE RESTAURANTS IN SANTA MONICA and they probably will not try to screw you on your credit card.
