Just Yelped this.
I'll be up front and note that I will not be a customer of Chik-fil-a any time soon. That said, this review is not about their horrible corporate donation policies, but about a rude manager at a local franchise.
I was driving North on White Oak from South on the Boulevard. My route took me past a Chik-fil-a to my right. There were cars on the far right (parking lane) to turn into the restaurant, and other traffic, of which I was part, was maneuvering to be in one of the two thoroughfare lanes.
There was a private "security" guard directing traffic. She attempted to have a couple of cars stop so that there would be an empty spot in front of the parking lot driveway. Neither the car ahead of me a bit to the right, or I, stopped. The car to my right was a bit ahead of me.
The Guard looked at me and I unrolled my window and said, "I'm sorry, but I'm sure you understand why, I won't do anything that helps Chik-fil-a." She said, "We have to keep this clear for emergency traffic." She pointed to the parking lane, which I was not even in, but I said, "Ah, okay, if it's for that no problem."
I pulled a bit to my left and managed to give some clearance.
----------------
I then called the Chik-fil-a and was routed to the manager who identified herself as Monica.
Deborah: Howdy. I was wondering what the purpose of the Security Guard is for? Is that your Security Guard?
Monica: Yes, we want to make sure that nobody parts in the wrong spot or they will be towed.
Deborah: Well, I was told that was for emergency personnel, which I would not want to block, but you're saying it's about parking?
Monica: Yes, parking, to make sure people park in the right spots.
Deborah: So it's not a City edict? And, just so you know, I'm not a customer for reasons I am sure you can guess if you pay attention to news. That said, I am sure you have a great job, and enjoy working there. This isn't about any of that. If it's for the City, I'll move no problem, if it's to help Chik-fil-a I won't.
Monica: I'm not at liberty to say.
Deborah: You're not at liberty to say? I just want to know if it's about parking or about emergency vehicles.
Monica: Or call corporate.
Deborah: ...
Monica: What's your name?
Deborah: Deborah Levinson
Monica: Y'all (yes, she said "Y'all") call me all the time and harass me, and I'm not going to put up with it any more.
Deborah: I've never called you bef....
Monica hangs up.
----------------
I then called corporate, and essentially shared the exact same story I did with Monica. Corporate did not know the purpose of the Guard, but even knowing that I was not a customer, and would not be a customer, apologized to me and said they would contact the store.
Given the call was recorded and I was (and am) in a super mellow mood even though Ralph's didn't have any produce bags....
Perhaps Monica will be more polite next time.
