I'm half Japanese and having gone to Japan, having food there and eating mom's good cooking and eating other Japanese foods in restaurants, Ren Sushi is really wonderful, fresh and not expensive in my opinion! It may not be as exotic or flashy as some of the other Japanese restaurants that you get in San Deigo, but Ren is one of the best. Trust me. It's fresh and the Japanese DO take their food seriously! I am sorry to see the black rice disappear from the menu, however, hopefully, it may return some day. Upon my visit to Long Beach, California, I will have stopped at Ren at least five times and this visit will be of no exception and I've NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED ONCE. One DOES get a lot of food for you dollars as well! Go to Ren Sushi (printed Ren Sushi on the window and not Sushi Ren, but for advertising sake to find on the Internet, it may be Sushi Ren) whenever you get a chance. The staff is wonderful, the food is fresh and the meals are YUM-MY!!!! And get the black rice, if it's available. It's a rarity and delicacy and extremely OSHI or delicious!
