The waitstaff was polite, efficient and an overall pleasure. The hostess was very personable and left us feeling as if we were welcomed. The food came out very quickly and was delicious! And there was a lot of it! Not to mention extremely fairly priced. Outstanding value. An overall very pleasant experience. I will be back and would strongly endorse Blake's Grill!

My husband and I and my sister and her boyfriend decided to grab some breakfast before my sister had to go to work on New years day. Blake's sign out front said that they were open til 12. It was twenty of, so we went in and asked if we could still get breakfast. The waitress told us it was "up to you", so we took that to mean that it would be alright for us to get breakfast. From the start, we were treated with indifference bordering on contempt by our waitress. My sister asked for milk for her coffee and we placed out orders, and waited. After 15 minutes and the coffee being delivered, but no milk, my sister (who is herself a waitress) got up to find our waitress and ask for some milk. She went around the front of the shop, just as the waitress was coming out of the kitchen, when my sister returned she laughed because she felt silly for chasing the waitress and said, oh, she's here. The waitress turned on us and said very loudly, "I am right here, I can hear everything you are saying about me" my sister was speechless, so I tried to explain to the waitress that she had not been making any rude comments about the waitress. At this point the girl stormed into the kitchen and started to make loud, rude comments about us to the cook. At this point we decided that we had best leave. None of us wanted to eat food prepared there, especially considering the waitresses attitude toward us. We got up and left and were followed out by the cook and another woman. The cook asked us why we were leaving, and when we tried to explain, the woman (who it turned out was the owner) started to argue with us, telling us that we had been calling the waitress names, and saying rude things about her. We were taken aback. My sister tried explaining politely that she was a waitress too, and understood how hard the job was, and that we would never be rude and mean to or about our waitress. The owner then argued that we had come in when they were closed. I said that we had come in a been told that we would be served, that it had not yet been 12 when we got there. The owner then asked who had told us they were open until 12. I responded that the sign had said so, the waitress had told us to sit. The owner then said "well I own the place, so I can make my own hours." My sister and I exchanged looks and decided to leave. As I walked toward my husband, I said, "Oh. MY. GOD." the owner mimicked me, and added "Stupid Yuppies".
I could not believe this experience. As I write this, it sounds so absurd! I did not know that a business could be run in such a fashion! Do not waste your time with this diner, there are better experiences to be had.
