The food here is fantastic, and the people are super friendly with a great view of the ocean. We had some amazing dishes like blueberry salmon and fish and chips, and I can't wait to come back for more!

Terrible...we waited an hour and a half for our food. Waitress barely came to the table, food was bland and flavorless. Way over priced for the quality of the food. Not to mention we had made reservations a day prior for a party of 12 so they had plenty of notice. The food was delivered at odd times too and half of our party received their food 25 minutes before everyone else. No apologies for the hour and a half wait either. I was completely disappointed and cannot even begin to understand why anyone would spend their money at this place.

Have been away and around a bit and have come back to Machias to be blown away by the changes at Helen's. The same favorites I enjoyed as a kid only better if possible. Very attentive staff, unbelievably fresh seafood prepared in ways other than fried, and the pies...Local ingredients are a great addition.

I had pancakes which were mediocre at best. There was no real maple syrup available. The waitress was less than attentive. I took a piece of lemon meringue pie with me and after one bite discarded it.It is also a very Republican political place which made me very uncomfortable. I will not go back ever.

Food is not what it used to be. Not worth going to this restaurant anymore. Food was mediocre at best. (8/12/09)
