I love stopping by Sheepscot General for their incredible fresh bread and delicious sandwiches, especially the breakfast panini with smoky bacon and a touch of sweet hot pepper jelly. The friendly atmosphere, local produce, and unique events like live music and pick-your-own strawberries make every visit feel like a special treat.

Sheepscot General in Whitefield is a fantastic local spot with a great variety of fresh produce and products made by local artisans. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the store offers everything you need from nearby farms and artists - plus they have live music in the summer! Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

I've been going to Sheepscot General Store since it was originally owned by Austin Moore. I just found out recently that he passed away in April 2021. In the beginning, it was a small farmstand, and customers bought fresh produce using an honor system. In the Spring, Summer and Fall, it's a nice scenic drive on both the Townhouse Road and the East River Road. I usually drive down Route 17 and take a right on Cooper Road and it comes out by St. Demis Catholic Church. From there, it's just a short distance from Townhouse Road. I've met Amish buggies several times on Cooper Road. They always wave whenever I see them. As I walk in the entryway, there's a small table with a pile of newspapers from the Lincoln County News. I think they also have a bulletin board. I particularly like their quiche, pies and their sourdough bread with Kalamata olives. I've yet to try their soups. I also love the plain yogurt from Swallowtail Farm & Creamery. They have their own spinach much later in the season than you would expect to find it. Their produce always looks fresh. They have an excellent Reuben
sandwich and on weekends, they have a small pastry that I love with a berry or chocolate filling. They have a good assortment of jams, preserves, pickles, teas, etc. Employees are friendly and helpful.
