I cant' say enough good things about the food here! Chicken is always great and the staff is polite, courteous and always have a smile on their faces! Our orders have always been right and fresh!!! Couldn't imagine getting chicken from any other place!!!

The chicken and sides are unbeatable, especially for the Price. And yesterday I also tried the Seafood platter which was a pleasant surprise. The Fillet of fish and shrimp were great.

I have been buying chicken here about twice per month for years. The chicken was so good when it was sold out of the grocery (which is now gone), that they opened their own place nearby. I have never seen any of the bad things mentioned in the negative reviews, but those reviews inspired me to write a review that I would not normally have bothered with. To Harvest Chicken I would say: Please keep making great "home made" tasting chicken and potato wedges. I don't know the motivation of those writing the negative reviews, but I notice that some try to steer people to another store.

They could care less if you are disappointed. I won't be again, because today was my last visit.

Let me just say that I hope the previous review does not push away anyone, I have had nothing but great experiences dining at Harvest! The staff was extremely friendly and courteous, they even let my kids pick out what they wanted to eat! The chicken is always delicious, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sides are delicious and my family loves this place. As for the owner Tom, I can say that I have never seen him act this way to anyone inside this establishment, so I'm not sure what the previous person "experienced". Sounds to me like a disgruntled ex-employee!

As another previous employee of this establishment, I can say firsthand that none of the stuff in Richard Hurts review is accurate. I agree that this seems like an angry ex-employee. I can promise you that the proper steps are taken to ensure the best for you, the customer. I know that all of the staff wears gloves at times when they are required, the food is prepared fresh every day. The owner has never once spoken badly to me. He was a wonderful employer and I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him and the amazing staff! Lastly, as a previous employee of KFC in Mount Airy, I can tell you for certain to take the extra time and go to Harvest Fried Chicken. You'll appreciate it later! Hope everyone that reads this isn't discouraged to go eat some great chicken!

For all of you reading this PLEASE take it very seriously! As a previous employee for a short amount of time what I witnessed was the most revolting and disgusting ways to prepare and make this food! The owner and most of the employees do NOT wear gloves while preparing food, the owner will get in your face and scream at you and call you "stupid" for asking a question. The ice machine that is hooked up to the ice maker and soda machines has NOT been cleaned in God knows how long so when you get a drink, you are also drinking freon and dirt! The bathrooms are NEVER cleaned, the food that is made there (chicken salad, coleslaw, chicken, tuna and shrimp salad and potato wedges) are made from OLD chicken and seafood, owner WILL change "sell by" dates on all of it including remade pies if a lot are left over since he wants to make a dollar! Think about it, you could be eating MONTH old food! Tables and booths are NOT wiped down, chicken will sit in the sink for HOURS before being used even after thawing it out and half the time not even washed, dishes are NOT washed with soap half the time due to laziness! It is revolting PLEASE go the extra mile to KFC or Royal Farms and save yourselves from the possible sickness that you can get! The roach problem is bad too and not taken care of, and the food never stays hot due to not fully preparing before serving!!!!

Wow, if some previous very negative reviews were honest, things certainly have changed. Visited today and the place was clean, the staff was sharp and the food was DELICIOUS! The chicken in particular was perfectly cooked, the breasts were firm but juicy. Anyone trying to say KFC has better chicken didn't visit Harvest Fried Chicken today, that's for sure...

We live in the area and have eaten at Harvest Chicken many times. The food is consistent and of good quality. I have read the other reviews and people seem to like or hate this place. We tend to like this place. When people compare it to Kentucky Fried Chicken in Mt. Airy this place wins. Let's face it, if you go to KFC you wait forever, they are often out of certain pieces of chicken and the chicken they do have is sitting in the warming trays anyway. KFC has mystery breasts which are some part of the chicken cut off and claimed to be a breast. At Harvest Chicken they always have the chicken ready for you, the wait is not long as you are typically the only customer in line, and the sides are good. They breasts are whole breasts not the mystery breasts you get at KFC. A couple of complaints is they should not charge you extra to substitute corn bread for rolls and the atmosphere is truck stop dive like.

One word to describe both the food and the establishment:DISGUSTING!! The deli cases the cold/hot food were in looked like they never been cleaned. The floors looked like they hadn't been swept or mopped in ages, the mens bathroom had no soap or paper towels, and even the staff looked fat and dirty. My hunger allowed me to look over the lack of sanitation for a moment. The food was luke warm and the chicken was still raw on the inside. When I asked for fresh food after finding my chicken was raw, the lady put my entire plate in the microwave and then handed it back to me. If I wanted something heated in the microwave I would have ate at home. I threw my plate in the trash and so did my wife. I said screw it and left with my wife. Wasted almost 20 dollars on nothing. Definatley would stick with KFC if you want good fried chicken. I wouldn't recommend the food to even a dog.

I used to make Harvest Chicken a weekly meal for my family and I, until about a month ago. My last 2 visits to the establishment were extrmely disappointing. The staff that is working there now have no customer service experience and got my order completely wrong. Besides that, I paid 1699.95for my familys 8 pc meal deal because the staff entered the numbers into the credit card machine wrong--so I asked to speak with the Manager, who turned out to be the same one who over rang me. Debbie(The "Manager") was very rude when I confronted her about the situation and didnt even apologize for her mistake. She did refund my money but it took 3 days to post to my checking account and also overdrew my checking account and made me incur large fees. I walked out with nothing but my family and drove to KFC to get my fried chicken fix. Hoping I could have my faith restored in the establishment, I left my name and number that day for the owner to call me so I could inform him of the situation, but he never called me back. I miss the short fat man that worked in the back who was the owner at one point but I think he sold the place because he was not I stopped seeing him months ago. If I found out the staff was better trained or all fired then maybe I would go back, but until then Im going to KFC for my familys weekly chicken fix. Customer service is important to me, yes the food may be decent, but if you want prompt and friendly service, this place should be the last on your list now.

The staff is very friendly and the food has always been great when my family and I eat there. We often get 100 pieces or more for gatherings and hear nothing but great things from our guests as well. I would recomend this place to anyone who enjoys fried chicken!

This place was horrible. Took the family there on a Sunday afternoon. Empty except for the staff and the flies. The chicken was under lights, overcooked and you could tell had been sitting for quite awhile. The decor was nothing interesting and the kitchen (you can see it from the front) less than clean in my opinion. For the price go to a national chain before this place.

review_stars 09/13/2010 - Bill
This place is the best side trip coming west on 70 there is, even if you're not hungry. Plesant atmosphere and great food at a great price. The chicken salad is out of this world.
