Let me preface this by saying the drinks are weak and overpriced, and the bartenders all look like they hate their jobs, and with an owner like this I can see why.

Next I'll say that the owner is rude, arrogant, ignorant, mean, abusive, harassing, and he discriminates based on disability.

I went over to this bar last night briefly while I waited for Johnny B's to open, because I had a gig over there and didn't want to wait in the damp weather for 30 minutes. Havana is usually pretty quiet, and I was alone with my 8lb little service dog, so I just popped in for a brief moment to wait until Johnny's opened. I ordered a drink and had a chat with a guy at the bar

When I go into a bar, my dog lays in my lap under the bar itself, which is legal as the law states the animal has to be under the "table". He's very, very well behaved and NEVER EVER gets complaints or causes trouble, so what happened next was a mind blower.

This grey haired guy comes up to me and says I need to put my dog on the floor because he's "on the bar", which he wasn't, and the only time he comes up from my lap is to be friendly to people. This man said he's the owner and then starts to kiss my butt; "We appreciate your business"... Etc.

NEVER DID HE MENTION A CUSTOMER AT THE BAR COMPLAINED! This is important to note. You'll see why.

I was going to leave anyways and I could tell what kind of man he was, so I complied, got my stuff, chatted with the DJ, and as I was walking out the door, he started to follow me and continued to kiss my butt, as I'm literally out of his door already.

I turned around and said I didn't want him kissing my butt for repeat business. He gave me this look and said he wasn't, which he was, and said he didn't like my attitude, which I was kinda peeved he did that when he had no grounds to, but I had no attitude until he followed me out the door. Then I was just annoyed.

He went on to say that a CUSTOMER AT THE BAR COMPLAINED. One, there were me and two other guys at the bar; he talked to nobody there before coming up to me. Two, he never mention that a customer had complained when he came up to me at the bar (I have a witness). So he was using that as an excuse to bail himself out because he was getting in kinda deep now. How do I know? That's the classic bailout line for service animal incidents, despite the fact it holds no water unless the animal is a direct threat to customers, which he wasn't.

This man literally sat out in the damp weather IN FRONT OF his bar (that means we were on a public sidewalk) for five minutes giving me this song and dance about how he was a cop, and trained K9's and such. He later changed his story saying he trained guide dogs just to try and make it look more like he knows everything there is to know about service animal laws, which he clearly doesn't.

Every time I tried to talk, the man would cut me off, be rude somehow, look threatening, or something harassing.

I finally looked at him and said that I view what he's doing as harassment and would be happy to talk to a lawyer if he continued to bully me in this manner. I also said he had no right to even say anything about my dog unless he was being a serious health problem, and he wasn't. I make ABSOLUTELY sure he isn't EVER a health problem.

The owner lastly said that the dog was on the bar (he wasn't) and if the health inspector walked in (at 9 PM when not one of Jackson County's two health inspectors are even working) they could be shut down, which isn't even true; my family owned a restaurant, and he'd just get docked a few points. Plus, why is it so hard to just wipe the bar after I leave? Even if the dog were on the bar, I guess he's telling me they don't want to have to ABIDE BY HEALTH CODE LAWS AND USE A BLEACH RAG TO WIPE THE BARS AND TABLES AFTER A CUSTOMER LEAVES. I mean, an 8lb Chihuahua obviously requires you to wipe what, like 1 square foot of bar space? Give me a break.

He said he has the right to refuse service to anyone, which is true, and he told me never to come back, all because I have a disability, a small and well behaved service dog, and he has a complex of some sort and decided to harass and verbally abuse me as I was minding my own business and LEAVING. We weren't even in his bar. We were on a public sidewalk, so I hope he enjoys those charges I'm going to file.

And PS: I have witnesses, and I have your security camera feeds, sir. So you kind of stepped in it.
