Despite what the above remarks said! Willie Moore's have always been good service and good food! They are there to provide good food not kiss arrogant peoples a**! Cogic or whoever they are can keep on moving... it will just give a less wait for those of us who appreciate good service and food. Maybe them and 15 family members can settle for happy meals next time lol!

As a local business owner of an establishment I was shocked with the conversation I recently had with an individual who answered the phone at this establishment. A customer walked into my retail establishment downtown and asked me where "Willie Moores" restaurant was located. I proceeded to tell them I was not familiar with the place but I would be glad to look it up. I found the number and then called the restaurant and then proceeded to ask them where they were located on South Third. She replied with giving me the street number (which I already knew of course). I then asked if they were North or South of Crump. She replied "I ain't good with that, I ain't good with that." I then asked for a landmark and she gave me a car lot as a landmark. It seems to me that a person who is answering the phone at a business should be able to adequately describe there location and should be smart enough to understand simple North and South directions. The overall vibe of the entire conversation was rude and shocking to me. I proceeded to tell my customer they probably did not want to eat in this establishment and suggested somewhere else for them to go.

I am so disappointed to hear that my city has SEVERAL accounts of rudeness that was shown during the last trip of Church of God in Christ convention in Memphis for a while. With this being their last “Hurrah”, for sure every merchant and its staff were expected to agree to put the their best foot forward in hopes to re-gain the over $50 billions dollars back into the Memphis economy. I was particularly disappointed by a couple of reviews at one of our local secrets, Willie Moore’s; both within 24 hours.
Willie Moore is a local, African American Owned, soul food restaurant. While the customers agreed that food was satisfactory, several customer accounts and concerns of cleanliness arouse when a glimpse was caught of the under portion of a servers acrylic nails. This source says that they also witnessed mold growing from one or more of their deserts displayed on their counter.
1. One customer agreed, “it was not JUST the 45 minute wait time but the poor customer service that further turned this establishment into everything I despise about a black, owned restaurant or business. From the decor to the unpleasant cashier”.
2. Another told of an instance where they were ignored for an extended period of time. When they asked about the overlook they were yelled the chant of the week “45 minute wait”. The staff was rude, and behaved as if they didn’t want our business enough to be nice.
3. Yet another customer tells of an instance where they were just involved in an automobile accident in front of Willie Moore’s trying to navigate out of their packed parking lot. When she asked if they could try and hurry her order to get 5 small children out of the lot and on to a hotel with food (because they hadn’t eaten) she was then confronted by the cashier for about 5 minutes, told by the cashier that she had an attitude, accused of yelling and additionally told by cashier “you know there is a Wendy’s and KFC down the street”.
As for these accounts they do not want a verbal apology but do sugguest that Willie Moore’s can acknowledge their error in 3 modifications remove all cashiers and servers until they have been properly trained in customer service and conflict resolution, add additional staff for the time they anticipate heavy volume and have a BETTER system for take out orders vs. dine in. They simply ask that you have your professional people on your front line and re-think hiring people that might be challenges with self-control. You never treat a paying customer rudely and suggest that they go down the street? If I were the manger of the person who said this, that is precisely where your new job would be.
I am mortified to know that my city has left some of our long time guest with a sour taste in their mouths. As for Mr. Moore and his establishment I leave a physical address to write any additional addresses and/or concerns. I hope the owner of this eatery’s feelings do not mirror that of his staff. As a business owner myself, I need to know of what’s happening and make sure that I am doing the best for my company and customers. “As for me and my family of 15, our money will be spent at Alcenias. Long wait but many hugs and kisses to make up”. - COGIC member.
Come on Memphis “If we want it; then we have to put a smile on it”. My apologies to all who were accosted. Additionally, as an African American business owner, I sincerely apologize and assure this is NOT this is not pulse of every minority owned establishment. Every person involved should be dealt with immediately. Please feel free to share any concerns to the manager for their awareness: Willie Moore’s- 931 S 3rd St. Memphis, TN 38106.
