STAY AWAY FROM THE NILES, MICHIGAN TACO BELL!!!! On August 16th, 2021 at approximately 7:01 PM I ordered food at your establishment. I waited in line for 7 minutes in the dining room when there was only one person ahead of me. Once my order was taken, I waited an additional 15 minutes in line for food. Even after 15 minutes the food was not ready, nor was it being prepared. I advised the clerk that waiting over 20 minutes in line for “fast food” was unacceptable. I requested that my money be refunded and that I would patronize another dining establishment.

I was advised by the clerk that the store has a policy of “no refunds” even if I never received any food. I advised the clerk that this too was unacceptable and I asked whether this particular store was corporate owned or a franchise. The clerk stated that the store was corporately owned. I then asked for the number to corporate so that I could make a complaint. The clerk went to the back of the store and came back and stated that the store was franchise.

The clerk then stated I could call 1-800- TACO. I advised the clerk that this was not a legitimate number because there was not enough numbers in the sequence. The clerk assured me it was the right number. He then went back and, evidently spoke with the shift manager, came back out and said 1-800-TACO was the correct number. I again stated that this was an invalid number because there were not enough numbers in the sequence. I then called the number and put it on speaker so that the clerk could hear that “the number cannot be completed as dialed”.

Someone did finally come up with the phone number of corporate which appears to be the number to corporate. I asked for the clerk’s name. The clerk rudely stated “we don’t give out names”. I asked for the shift managers name. The clerk, again, rudely stated “we don’t give out names”.

It is absolutely unacceptable for me to be held hostage at the store waiting for an unknown amount of time for the employees to make the food. Furthermore, after being treated with such disrespect and contempt, I could not trust that the employees would not adulterate my food in some manner. I left the store without any food and with the store employees refusing to refund my money. Although this is a “civil” issue legally, I feel that morally speaking, this is outright “theft” of $7.39 of my hard earned money.

When I left the store I immediately contacted my credit card company to file a dispute claim on that charge. I will be contacting Taco Bell Corporate to see if anything can be done through them. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Since my money was taken with no product being delivered, and since the employee’s state that under those circumstances money is never refunded, I have also filed a complaint with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. Normally I would allow the store manager to attempt to adjust the situation. However, my treatment at this Taco Bell was so abhorrent that I felt a claim should be filed in all these avenues.

I do not want free food nor do I seek an apology. Under these circumstances, I will NEVER patronize this establishment EVER again. There are plenty of other businesses to patronize and as a customer, I deserve far better. However, I refuse to walk away while this establishment simply “steals” money out of my account for no services or product delivered. All I ask for is my $7.39 returned to my account.
