I stayed in Ossineke for about two weeks, hiking and riding my mountain bike and ate at Baba Ruski almost everyday. I really appreciated the good food and nice people that waited on me. I generally ordered off the board for daily specials and found their food to be homecooked and very tasty. The owner busts her butt to run a good establishment and it shows in the customer satisfaction.

First DJ, everyone can have an off day but as many times as I have been to this restaurant, Ive yet to have that bad of an experience. Im thinking you may have gone a bit overboard. As for overboard, REALLY bdub? You have to call someone overweight and you have no idea who they are? Judgemental much?
Now as for my last experience....

We went there a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday for my teenage sons birthday as that was his choice. It was my immediate family, nephew, Grandmother and neighbor. I had the Ossineke burger and ordered the Onion Rings. BOTH were superb and great tasting. My Grandmother used to make her own potato pancakes and said that those were the best she had had since she last made them. My husband and nephew split a full order of ribs and loved them. So tender we could cut them with a fork. My son and neighbor each had a burger and fries and they were happy also. We even got a fudge brownie sundae treat. For 6 of us including drinks and the dessert, we spent just a little over $60. Even though there was 1 waitress, we had our food on time and only has to ask once for a refil on our pop. We have been there before and will be there again.

Its a small place that takes the time to get the food right. We have been there 4 time in the last month. The prices are reasonable, I mean $ 9.99 for all you can eat fish? its 15.99 at Burtons, and just about that ammount at the Holiday Inn.
Good food, give them a chance to improve, hats off to you guys for starting the business and making it work. We will be back.

A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT

The service at this tiny place was very slow. The cole slaw and cottage cheese sides were brought out right away, but the rest of the food took another 15 minutes. The place wasn't that busy, so we're not sure why it took so long.

My husband and in-laws ordered the all-you-can-eat cod for $9.99, which we thought was pricey, but we wanted to give it a try. The first plate included a decent amount of fish (2 pieces on my father-in-law's plate and 3 on the others), and it tasted good. My husband and father-in-law asked for more. They were asked if they wanted one more piece or two. They each asked for two. After another 10-15 minute wait, they were brought a single plate with four tiny pieces of fish on it. Each piece was not even half the size of what they had received the first time. By this time, my mother-in-law wanted for more, and my husband and father-in-law asked for more again right as those tiny pieces were brought out. That meant another 10-15 minute wait, but at least the pieces that were brought out that time were normal sized. The men might have liked to have more fish, but we didn't want to wait again. As an all-you-can-eat meal, it was very disappointing. You shouldn't have to beg and then leave feeling that you wanted more.

I ordered a French dip for $4.99. It was supposed to come with potato chips, I was told. I had to ask for the chips after the sandwich was brought out. The waitress went to the back and brought out a half-full soup bowl of mostly broken chips. The meager portion of meat on the sandwich tasted overcooked. However, the juice that came with it was so salty that I had to dilute it with my drinking water to be able to use it. Without the dip, the sandwich was not very good, but with it, it was almost inedible because of the salt. I ate it anyway because I was hungry, and we were there. I can't say that I was hungry after eating, but I was very disappointed.

Oh, and speaking of drinking water, after the last round of fish came out, we had to *ask* for refills on our water. By that time, I had been sitting there for more than half an hour with nothing in front of me, and yes, I was thirsty because I had poured part of my water in the salty juice. We will not be eating at this place again.
