Just was at Blackboard for the first time last Friday. It was a cozy, warm dining room in a neat old schoolhouse. It was quite small, so reservations are recommended. The cocktails were good, I had a very tasty Old Fashioned. We shared the artichoke dip and each had the salmon. We had heard their salmon was great and it did not disappoint. We shared their homemade zucchini cake for dessert. It was unreal! We are excited to return when the weather is nice and we can try outside. Great job.

All we can say is wow! The chicken wild rice soup was great - and the halloumi salad was delicious. We love Blackboard. Especially the desserts!

We enjoyed our evening at Blackboard - the menu is varied and interesting. We chose their homemade artichoke dip with chips, some cocktails and then we had their filet mignon and the chicken pasta. The steak was easily the best steak I’ve ever had. It was HUGE. They say 8oz on the menu, but this had to be more than 8oz. The chicken pasta had sun dried tomatoes, cream, spinach and crispy prosciutto - it was out of this world. Our server was funny and present - without being too much. (We’re not super chatty people) For dessert we had their crinkle - a pastry with salted caramel. It was absolutely fantastic. Make a reservation and go! We will absolutely be back.

What a great dinner! We started with a Paloma and a French 75 - they were perfect. Then we had their side salads which were good. We shared the ribs platter, the pork tenderloin and the schnitzel. The standout was the schnitzel for sure! Salty, crunchy, creamy and lemony. We all loved the trip to the Blackboard.

One of the hardest things we face in any business is staffing. This however, does not excuse unessecary rudeness to new patronas at any established. Restaurants/Bars build clientele on Friday and Saturday nights. As patrons, we should all show patience, in which we did on our date night. Unfortunately our bartender was flat out rude and unprovoked. We have always been known as nice people and good tippers, but unfortunately this was not the case. The food was amazing as always, but unfortunately from this experience it has been a big discouragement!

Blackboard is simply wonderful. We have become somewhat hooked on the great cocktails and the twinkle lights - but the food is really why we go! Great flavors and perfect portions - fresh salads and obviously good quality. Don’t sleep on their fresh seafood! And never leave without ordering whatever Terri is making for dessert. These people are warm, friendly and simply wonderful. Make a reservation and go.

We love the Blackboard!
Terrie the manager always greats us and checks in on the food and service durring the course of our experience. VERY friendly and outgoing!
The food is a combination of five star restaurant variety and good ole Midwest offerings. I would be remiss if I did not send out a thanks to the bartenders for the excellent drinks and friendly banter. Samantha always has a smile and is very efficient. We have brought friend there and they were impressed as well.
We will be back!

Really terrible service. For the menu and price point, it's awful. the owner or manager or whoever she is was rude, we got in early before out reservations, took her 10 min to get our drinks, went outside to "wait" for our table which was open, went in, sat down, and was never talked to again. Everyone else that was there were finished, a walk in got greeted and food ordered and no one even looked at us. Asked for our tab and she threw the poor new young employee under the bus saying "he's new". I've had a hard time going back.

From Chicago visiting my sister with her husband, Decided to eat at the school house which is now blackboard restaurant, Walked in nobody there absolutely nobody they refused to see us because we did not have a reservation Walked in nobody there absolutely nobody they refused to seat us because we did not have a reservation,lol,then another person asked if we had reservations,,again I looked around the place was empty, ready to leave, but 1 mice waitress helped us. Food was pricey an chicken dish was over cooked. NEVER WILL RETURN. The Lady who was in charge was seriously rude to my sister when she tried to compliment her on the salad,,She replied" just a salad." Love the beautiful area but kindness an being polite goes a long way, ESPECIALLY when you are serving the public. 0 stars for rudeness!!!!
