09/26/2014 - Karen Tirey
Tuesday, 09/23/14 approximately 3 to 4 pm my granddaughter and I stopped in at the Burger King in the Dexter MO store which is right on Highway 60. Had lunch and had no issues until we were walking out of the store. My granddaughter had been stopped and asked her if her dog was a service dog and she said yes. The lady, I believe was the on duty manager, had shoulder brown hair. There were a table of employees training. As we were getting ready to leave, this lady made a loud comment that "I didn't know they both had epilepsy." and "they both have epilepsy?" She evidently had not seen my service dog until that point. For one, she said it loud enough both times that ANYONE in the store at the time could have heard it. We went to the car and put the dogs in the car and my granddaughter, who is 20 went back into the store to say something to the table of trainees and trainers. She was told that she would take care of it. I was going to let it drop, however the more I thought about it the more it really bothered me. IF one or both of us had epilepsy the comment could have caused one or both us to go into a seizure. As service dogs the only questions allowed are: Is that a service dog, and what services the dog provides. We do not even have to show the paperwork showing that they are however we both had proof attached to the dogs.
