Cost way too much for the fried fish. One piece of fish for 13.95. No hush puppies, .was very disappointed. The last owners would never have served one piece of fish. I have eaten there many times but not and more.

We have ate there before, quite a bit actually
And it was very good home cooking. They are under new ownership. We went sat and it was good as ever. Large portions (to much for me) met the new owners very nice people. So all in all I would recommend them very highly. And our waitress Miss Jayme We will see you soon.

Love the breakfast, especially the grits. The fried chicken is excellent. The greeter and servers are so friendly and accommodating.

Have eaten there many times, have had good and not so good. Recently it has been excellent, Good coffee, good food and plenty of it. Service has been excellent, fluids kept full. Best eatery in the area.

Two of us stopped at gateway today on the way to the lake, 2 eggs, sausage and one biscuit with gravy and coffee was almost $10, biscuit and gravy was cold and sausage was hard, the other meal was one order of French toast and coffee and it was over $9 and cold, we never did get a refill until we finally asked for it, I have eaten there for several years but no more. Just shy of $20 for two poor breakfast is not going to happen again

Friday, July 18, 2014, expected a great meal but got the GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT! With grand kids in tow, a crowd outside and nearing 8pm, we thought the place was packed...WRONG AGAIN, they close at 8pm. The crowd outside were leaving from the SMOKING SECTION of the Cafe. A couple after us found out; 8:07pm the CLOSED SIGNS WENT UP IN THE WINDOWS and they were told Gateway was closed. Catfish was the special, ALL YOU COULD EAT, WHAT A DEAL!. Most of the employees had not idea what to tell us, pre-8pm, OPEN OR CLOSED...they should have told us they were CLOSED. $47.99 was a steep expense I could have done without for COLD FOOD. Except for some chicken strips (grandson and wife), both granddaughters had twice cooked corn dog and hamburger - crusty and dried out, warm fries. Daughter's was warm (chicken fried steak) and to cold (mashed potatoes) while wife's baked potato was only warm. NOW FOR THE CATFISH SPECIAL, I wouldn't even have fed that to my dogs. I wonder how the Health Department would view this service? Cold fried potatoes, warm brown beans (a little slime on the top). The CATFISH while plentiful was COLD I sorry to say! My daughter even thought the food we received came from carryout boxes the employees had set aside! When it came to drinks, that is a whole other subject. Coffee and water SHOULD NEVER RUN OUT! After the second cup of GOOD coffee, the pot was dumped by staff when I asked for a refill, terrible opportunity to miss out on a $5.00 tip over coffee. The water, lets just say my wife gave me her glass as after I asked several times never got refilled. The staff all around service SUCKED. Not a single one could get us seated, we stood around asking if the catfish was still being served; I was finally told I would have to ask my waiter when she came. BTW tips are immediately lost when you REACH OVER anyone of my family members to serve food. Never do you serve food from the end of a table, over-top the end and over a person, especially when I go to great stride to pass you something from behind me! In addition, when you bring a salad do not expect to know who is supposed to get that salad when you pass it down from the end of the table, across several people, thinking the people in-between are supposed to know who is to get it...thank you, the salad was one of the few things screwed up (dressing was great) even though my daughter to the left of me was supposed to get it! NO TIP TONIGHT! I learned the value of a "penny" along time ago as a tip, unfortunately I left all my change at home; the coffee cup tipped upside down served the same purpose. And to think I boasted of the Gateway Cafe from eating there several years ago. Taco Bell, Sonic here we come.

This place reeks of cigarette smoke, I won't be back due to the smell. I don't know how people can eat there when you can't taste your food because of the smoke smell.

My husband & I live in Spokane & will gladly tell people this is a terrific place to eat. Prices are very reasonable & not too expensive. Food is super & good portions. Crispy fries , big plate of salad , menu items a good selection. Homemade pies to die for !
Their prime rib dinner was our selection for this visit & couldn't have gotten a better meal.
We will definitely be going back again & again.
