12/11/2022 - Very Disappointed
Great atmosphere but sadly very underwhelming food. We were celebrating a special birthday dinner as a party of two. We were sat at a tiny round table where the beautiful but disproportionately chairs were very uncomfortable and placed between two busy walkways. While they tried to accommodate me by giving me a pillow to sit on, it was very uncomfortable to sit on the edge of my seat all evening. We were up charged for menu items without being told. The meal was very overpriced and forgettable for the most part. We had high hopes because The Mill is our favorite restaurant in the Springfield area and we were very excited about having dinner at The Garrison. Do not order the fried chicken - it was very tough and seasoned poorly! The burnt sweet potatoes were probably the worst I've ever had and the rosemary cake was burnt and tasted like cotton candy -straight sugar with no flavor. When we were candid about the food with our server, she replied "it's not for everyone." Our bill was $250 before the tip. On the only good note - the space is absolutely beautiful!
I've never left a bad review before. I hope that is telling enough. If you're going to Finley Farms, do yourself a favor and just stay upstairs where the food is delicious! Hopefully The Garrison will get it together soon - so disappointing!
