I believe this bar stands out among others in the area, offering a friendly crowd and affordable prices. While the bathrooms are on the smaller side, the lively atmosphere and regular live music events make for an enjoyable experience. The limited but quality menu, along with the artsy decor and amiable staff, create a charming setting perfect for unwinding with a drink or enjoying a good book.

Used to love to order the Rosalia Ruben sandwich. Our first encounter with this restaurant & their sandwich menu was when we ordered the Ruben. We were amazed & very pleased with the unusually large sandwich for the money & there was also a side, either chips which at one time was a bag of Zapp's or potato salad. However our last few "to go" orders lead us to question what has happened to the original sandwich. This last order order is what caused me to write this review. The bread used to be fresh baked bread as stated on their menu, The sandwich was made with regular load bread (it was toasted) and not much meat or cheese, the chips were loose and end of bag remnants and stale.....all of this for $8.55.

Just about the best little kick back place in the world !! You won't get a gourmet meal, but the food works just fine. The beer is cold and there are always a few interesting people to talk to, or just watch. Friendly and just what Alabama is all about.
Where else are you gonna find an outhouse in the front yard??

Outstanding !!!!

I have been to this place on several occasions and there were dogs everywhere leashed and unleashed. At first I really didn't mind the place until they got my goat. I was traveling through and decided to stop and have a beer. At this time I had my dog, Panhead with me. I was rudely told DOGS WERE NOT ALLOWED. But yet in the past I have seen dogs there, and there owners weren't asked to leave. I felt discriminated against. So what's up with that?

I definitely won't be going there again. The only server in the place that I saw totally ignored us. Then when she did acknowledge us she was rude. And there were dogs milling around the patio where we were supposed to eat. I mean I like dogs as much as the next person but not where I am going to eat.

It's not for every tourist that's for sure. The high and mighty don't appreciate the atmosphere and I wouldn't recommend the place only because they'd just be critical of what they don't understand. It's a gathering place for those who want to relax, to be away from tourists. It's a cool place to hear music 7 days a week, even if some of it might not be to your liking. If ya can't simply enjoy yourself there then there's no fixin' you.

Wish I had something positive to say about the place, but my whole experience was dreadful. The food was thrown together after being reheated in a microwave, the waitress was trashy and overly flirtatious, the music was HORRIBLE, and the entire place was full of drunks. The owner, Kim, was the worst of the bunch. She was drunk, her speech was slurred and her eyes were blood shot, she acted like she was high on something. The staff was slovenly dressed and the waitresses acted as if they were walking the streets looking for a date. I will NEVER go to this trashy place again, and I would recommend that no one else does either.

Great place, great music. Would suggest a better "hood" to ventilate inside -- sometimes you smell like you did a shift at Captain D's if you stay in there too long (fried food).

Stopped with my sister on the way to the airport to fly back to Ohio. I had a BLT and I have to say it was the best BLT I've ever had. The bread and dill mayo really made the sandwich. People were very friendly!

While the food continues to be interesting - and the drinks great - the family atmosphere at the Cafe is a charade - Bert has been FIRED and now Kathy has QUIT - and a cook is soon to follow - not such a happy family - maybe it's the "Momma" ...hmmmmm. Such a pervasively unhappy staff speaks VOLUMES about the management and the cafe is bound to suffer the consequences.

As as a visiting Canadian, I was so impressed with the friendliness of this place. The food and the entertainment were equally outstanding. I had so much fun, that it is on my "must" list every year. Can't wait to see y'all again!!

We were so pleased to find such a cool place in Lillian. We were recently there, visiting from Arizona. We went to various places in Gulf Shores and Pensacola that served food and entertainment but found this place the least commercial and most fun for us, since we love to find rural places with locals who love to make music. We could have hung out there every night if other obligations and our passion to find every cool spot around hadn't driven us to other places. After all was said and done, we wished we had just gone to Lillian's each night.

My wife and I love this place and the owners. This place has sucsess because they are so cool. How dare you people say these things about this place. These are two young people trying to make something out of nothing and they are doing just fine with you!! I think this is a great place to come listen to music, chill, and get a sandwich.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LILLIAN'S CAFE!!!! The food is EXCELLENT! Everything is prepared at its freshest! Staff are warm, friendly, and always on top of their game! Kim is one of the most wonderful, wholehearted, giving person I've ever met, and she does a fantastic job of running the cafe! When you go to the cafe you can expect the best food, service, and entertainment (which is presented every night)! If you are looking for fantastic food and a hell of a time go to the Lillian's Cafe!!!!!!!!

combative merchantile with a white trash tackiness they dont even seem to be organized.the owner is always on site and always drunk ......very moody watch what you say to her do not mention a defficiency it will throw her into a narcissistic rage. they only have microwaves to cook in yuck

review_stars 12/18/2009 - carolyn
the woman that servced us was hostile and spent half the time complaining about the other staff when we got the food it was cold and the bread was more likje a cracker . really the food is made in what look like two microwaves and the cook was dressed in cutoffs and a tank top rolling her eyes the whole time she ccoked.she told us that normally thgey dont like to cook food after 8pm . when we left the owner of the place, so she said ,was so intoxicated that she was unintelligable. we suggest taking the drive to another town and get real food especially when you cant hear yourself thinj over the tinnny cheap sound system. its been awhile since ive been panhandled at a bar.. this certainly was not a cafe it was more like the lunch room in a high school
