OM is a little niche of nirvana in Harvard Square. The new late-night lounge and fusion restaurant will leave you as breathless as a perfect martini would. It is a beautifully lit and stunning new space, serving American Fusion cuisine. Simultaneously bold and soothing, the space draws inspiration from ancient Tibetan culture - managing just the right balance of authenticity and ultra-chic. Imported stunning Asian treasures and authentic Buddhist art pay homage to the owners' heritage and visually remind that we're one with the universe. Four thousand square feet of warm bamboo flooring contrast the colorfully vivid 'Thangka' paintings and dramatic Buddhist sculptures. OM feels like a collector's private gallery, with over 50 commissioned artisans in Nepal, Tibet and Thailand contributing to its collection. Most notably, every door, archway and façade was custom carved by the Newars, whose mastery of intricate carving has been a Nepalese tradition for 1000 years. Strikingly large bamboo poles pave the way to the Buddha-embedded wall. What walls aren't graced with art, are covered with nature's elements like hand-placed stones and light-reflecting waterfalls. While the upstairs dining room promises a calming, museum-like journey through the Far East - the Lounge at OM is sleek and swanky, boasting sumptuous leather sofas, steel mesh draperies and continuous video art on three plasma screens.
