There's only one Sunny's left, over on South State by the Motel 6. They've ditched the Chinese buffet and now serve up some pretty delicious donuts. I find myself swinging by in the dead of night (thank goodness for street parking for my big rig) for a quick bite of their hot ham and cheese croissant to-go - beats the Truck Stop any day. A little gem of a donut shop on South State Street in Ukiah used to be my rainy morning go-to for a chocolate old-fashioned and a steaming cup of French Roast. The place had a certain magic in the air, with the sound of ravens outside and the glossy sheen of chocolate frosting on those donuts. Farewell to the buffet days, but hello to a new donut-filled bliss.
