My Fiance, best friend and I all went to see the wonderful little tourist town of Columbia. Overall, the park was cute...we stayed at a nice little motel called the Columbia Inn and went to have breakfast later. The motel manager acually recommended "Billy Whiskers" as a place to visit. We walked into the front door, saw 3 available tables and waited for the staff to assign our seats....well, there was not a moment to waste....the woman at the counter immediatly said.."We're full". My friend and I looked at the tables and said as we pointed to them..."you're full?" She simply responded..."yes". There was no waiting list, no "I'm sorry, but...."...nothing. She simply didn't want our patronage. We are your avarage looking americans, middle class, clean cut...all we wanted was a decent meal,.......this place made us feel like we were african-americans stuck in a small town in Georgia in the 60's. They simply didn't want us there and they made it clear...I gather they simlpy didn't want the "tourists" taking up space...well, parden me, but aren't the "tourists" the ones keeping that town on the map? I was hurt, disgusted and grateful we went down to Sonora to the "Miners Shack". They were wonderful there. We left a GREAT tip after an even better meal. They are very much into "locals"...outsiders are NOT welcome at " Billy Whiskers".
