The service was excellent and the food was delicious, especially the pecan waffle and the light and fluffy pancakes, creating a cozy 50s diner atmosphere that made for a perfect breakfast experience.

So, I call in an order to go. When I go to pick it up and pay for it, I'm thinking $2.00 tax? Sounds not right. So I ask, and find out there is an upcharge of .50 per order to package it. No, wasn't informed of this when placing order. So I am not going to die over an extra dollar but, now I am wondering about the times I have asked for a to go box when we ate there. Really? I am a paying customer like everyone else in there, are they being charged to wash the dishes they ate off of? Was told , you know for the containers and packing ,etc. 2 styrofoam cups with lids, 16oz., 2small containers for salads. 2 paper sacks. So then...the chicken and dumplings appeared to be going on the last of the batch also...Started to call in an order at Chili's guess I will next time, or Cracker Barrel where you get actual chicken and dumplings not soup......not happy today and that makes me sad about this restaurant. Is it just Corpus because it seems like so many things are a $$$ gouge.

My friends rave about T&C and I have never felt the way they do. It's an "okay" place to eat. The portions are extremely small, or the prices are too high, whichever way you look at it; it's not proportional to other restuarants in town or other places in Texas. I only go there because my friends won't eat anywhere else, that has finally become an issue with me and my friends. Today I went there with a friend who just wanted to sit and have some coffee and a slice of pie. Well, I thought, okay, I haven't done that let's see. I wasn't real hungry so that sounded great. Looked at menu, $3.49 for a slice of pie, I talked my friend into sharing the pie with me. Well, when it arrived, I was shocked! The slice was probably 2 1/2 inches across the widest part of the pie, the crust on the bottom was paper thin and the thickest part of the crust on the edge was maybe, MAYBE, 1/3 inch thick! Apple pie is what we ordered and there was probably four wedges of a VERY small apple. Honestly, it tasted like a cheap frozen store bought pie! I didn't complain, my friend was embarrased at the small piece and insisted on ordering another one. I talked her out of and after we had our Coffee(not even going to mention the pie), we walked over to HEB and found a slice of apple pie in the bakery department. It was $2.28 and it was probably 3 times more pie than the one at T&C! That was the capper, I will never eat there again!

I have been eating at Town and Country for years, an average of 3 times a month. When the air conditioning went out on a hot day and the news reported customers not coming, I went everyday to show support. Today I went was told there was a 15 minute wait. After waiting 10 minutes a couple came in and within 5 minutes went over and sat down at a just cleared table. I asked the hostess about it. She said, "Well, they called and made a reservation with Sam." "Oh, you can do that?" I asked. She said, "They are friends of Sam's and come in all the time." My husband and I left. I don't know they were and I don't know who Sam is, but Town and Country lost two good customers today despite the good food and excellent prices.
